As a licensed clinical social worker and a PhD in psychological anthropology, I've spent 30 years studying how people all over the world overcome their suffering. I help clients develop life skills to improve their relationships, decrease their anxiety and find joy in and acceptance of the present moment. Specifically, I combine mindfulness and meditation with cognitive behavioral therapy and traditional psychodynamic methods so that clients can both understand and change what blocks them from happiness.

Azard Counseling Services is based out of a quaint office in Baton Rouge. I specialize in working with early to mid-career stage women who are ready to make changes in their lives. The difference between where we currently are and where we want to be can sometimes be troublesome, especially when it involves issues that are at the core of our identity . Apprehensions surrounding careers, family, love, friendships, health or loss can result in deep feelings of sadness, insecurity, worry, and stress. In addition, I work with college age girls to to help improve their confidence and security. I look forward to working with you!

I help individuals and couples who are ready to tolerate the anxiety of making changes in their own perspectives and behavior. Others may struggle with unwelcome changes (break-ups, losing a job, stepfamily issues) and need strategies to move forward with purpose and peace. I can help you, too. Although I highly value the intimacy of in-office sessions, I also offer Zoom sessions.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over six years of experience, I have had the privilege of helping strong individuals on their journey to live their best life. I am a Licensed Professional Christian Counselor (LPC) specializing in relational and developmental trauma recovery, PTSD/childhood abuse recovery, healing the child within and family of origin healing. I use a story informed trauma treatment model (SITT) . I practice from a "wounded healer" perspective as I have my own testimony of childhood abuse recovery, divorce recovery and remarriage/blended family. I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 35 years of experience and work with adults and young adults 18 and older. I work with individuals and groups and provide consultation and supervision to other therapists. I tend to be eclectic in my style and tailor it according to the individual and their specific circumstances. I work with a variety of issues, including grief, depression, anxiety and stress, self esteem and self compassion enhancement. I also address relationship concerns, relapse prevention, and work with family members coping with loved ones who have Alzheimer's/dementia and substance abuse disorders.
