Like many modern therapists, I use a combination of approaches to suit my client’s unique needs. My background is in psychodynamic psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I provide individual counseling for adults ages eighteen and older. I am a supportive, non-judgmental therapist with years of clinical experience. Some of my specialty areas include perinatal mood disorders, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety. My job is to provide guidance and ride along with you on your journey to finding answers. My philosophy is that healing happens when you have a safe place to reflect and a reassuring person joining you on your path.

I incorporate a client-centered and strengths-based perspective in all aspects of clinical care. I use a warm, empathic, and thoughtful approach to create meaningful and trusting relationships. I strongly believe every client is the expert of their own lived experience. I am passionate about exploring clients’ emotions, behaviors, and experiences and developing practices and interventions to create meaningful and positive change. I see the relationship between the therapist and client as a collaborative partnership. I aim to create a safe environment for clients to foster resilience and empowerment in their lives.

I provide psychological therapy which focuses on the way that people think and behave. My practice specializes in working with children/adolescents and college/post-college adults who have problems adapting to their current life circumstances. Each person brings into treatment all their experiences, both joyous and problematic, which provides a base for the development of individualized goals and objectives.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), certified IFS therapist (level 3 trained), and certified IFS clinical consultant who provides individual and couples therapy and consultation. I understand that it takes a lot of courage to begin the process of therapy, so I work to create a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I appreciate the uniqueness of each client's experience and strive to meet each client where they are at. I collaborate with them to create a treatment approach that is flexible, effective, and aligned with their goals for change and healing.

I specialize in working with clients throughout the lifespan. I primarily work with individuals who are struggling with parenting challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and women’s issues. Since having children, I have been drawn to helping women through the joys and challenges of parenthood and received a specialization in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. I am also an IFS (Internal Family Systems) Level One Certified therapists and work closely with clients to help them make decisions that align with their unique values and connect with their sense of true self.

Tricia uses a holistic approach to healing and has extensive training in many different modalities including Reiki, IET (Integrative Energy Therapy), Yoga/Meditation, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and mindfulness training. In using the Contextual Change Model, she incorporates these various modalities depending on the needs of the client. She approaches the therapeutic relationship in a collaborative way, focusing on the client’s strengths, helping the client to deepen agency and self-awareness, emphasizing compassion and empathy throughout treatment. Tricia is currently teaching yoga/meditation at her home in Wilmette.

Susan knows that self-exploration is a lifelong process and considers it an honor to support clients of all ages. Her authenticity and ability to “keep it real” set the stage for honest reflection, productive conversation, and an overall feeling of trust. Clients who work with Susan learn to embrace the fabric of their lives while they set goals and develop strategies for navigating obstacles in healthful ways, promoting personal growth.

My goal is to treat each individual based on the whole person, rather than simply a diagnosis or label. I employ a holistic and less threatening approach to working through challenges. You will have the opportunity to focus on areas of strength to foster growth, gain personal empowerment, and create life shifts.

Since 2009, I have I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and parents with a special focus in anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, grief and loss, and life transitions. I have the Level 1 Theraplay Certification which works with children and parents to enhance attachment and increase self-regulation skills. I believe in focusing on bridging the therapy space to other environments so parents and schools will be included in treatment planning and updates. I also work with new and expectant parents, and received the level 1 PSI training to help support in this significant life transition.

With a journey that began in Philosophy, Layla holds a Bachelor of Arts and furthered her education with a Master of Social Work and a Master of Arts in Public Policy. Since obtaining her license in 2018, Layla has dedicated herself to creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals seeking growth, self-discovery, and authentic connections. Steve Schreiner is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois who has been practicing since 2008. He has a BS in Education from De Paul University and an MA in Counselor Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Steve helps his clients by assisting them in identifying goals, as well as potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil. Steve seeks to improve communication and teaches practical coping mechanisms which can help the client immediately to deal with their specific symptoms. Steve promotes behavioral change and optimal mental health.
