My therapy sessions often utilize Family Based Treatment for eating disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness.
Since 2017 I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with a special focus in trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and disordered eating. Whether you are seeking therapy for a specific problem, undesired pattern, or relationship discord, I strive to create a therapeutic alliance with you to promote positive change. I have specialized training in FBT (Family Based Treatment) for eating disorders and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). If working with a child/adolescent, I believe in bridging the therapy space to the home, and will closely collaborate with caregivers to enhance therapeutic progress.

My work is informed by cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.
Life is filled with sorrow and joy, frustration and wonder, stagnation and growth, obstacles and openings. At times, our skill set and resources are not optimal for helping us adapt to the shifts and movement in our lives. I believe that art therapy and counseling can support understanding of our skills and resources that better equip us to adapt to life's changes. Art therapy allows opportunities to imagine the best, healthiest version of ourselves and permit clarifying moments where we perceive possibility and potential. My goal is to support clients in becoming active agents in developing positive, purposeful ideas towards wellness and good health.

In addition to CBT and DBT, I include mindfulness, social networking, and positive psychology concepts in my practice.
All of us -- women and men, young and old, poor, middle class and upscale folks, minorities and majorities -- have to deal with complexity. As a therapist I help heal hurts from the past, assist clients in managing present challenges, and work collaboratively to create more satisfying future lives. The people who see me for individual, couples and family therapy represent a culturally diverse group. Their difficulties range from anxiety and depression, to stress disorders, OCD/OCPD, relationship problems, employment issues, and bereavement. Many of these women and men report quick progress in better managing their personal, family, academic, and work lives.

We start just where you are, right now, and utilize your personal strengths, internal resources, and resilience. You are more powerful than you know. My hope is to assist you with the tools, skills, understanding, and support to help you create a life of meaning, intention, and value; a life you want to be present for.

Though my therapeutic style is primarily insight-oriented, I have extensive training in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and mindfulness practices to support your ability to thrive.
Many of my clients present really well, seem completely put together, and their problems are not immediately apparent to others. Regardless, they have a sense that something is missing or something needs to change. I don't practice from a distance; I bring my whole self into the room in a warm, honest, and supportive way. Whether our engagement is brief and focused, or long-term and in-depth, together we'll identify what gets in the way of your happiness and work collaboratively to achieve your goals.

I am trained in various evidence-based methodologies, with extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Most people face trying times at different points in their lives and may benefit from support to overcome their challenges. Seeking help can be intimidating and it takes courage to begin therapy. As a social worker, I am trained to help people to better understand themselves and what may be contributing to their struggles, and to offer practical solutions that can help improve their situation. Although I genuinely enjoy the people that I meet, I believe that therapy should be temporary professional assistance so that people can learn how to manage their challenges independently.

I have advanced training and specialize in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Complex Anxiety, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Maybe you’re here because you’re a parent and your adolescent is struggling? They agreed to try therapy and you’re eager to find the right fit. Maybe you’re here because your anxiety or OCD is getting in the way of your ability to do the things you used to enjoy doing. Maybe you’re here because change is hard, uncertainty is scary, and you’re trying your best to manage the unpredictability of life. Or maybe you're here because you want to understand who you are, and what's important to you. Whatever brings you here, I hope we can work together to identify your values, take steps toward your goals, and forge a path forward.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
