Do you feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed in your life? Do you feel like if you could just change that one thing, your life could change? Does your relationship make you feel isolated, even with the one you love most? These are all normal questions people find themselves asking at some point in their lives. I work with children, adolescents, and adults affected by anxiety, relational stress with others, life transitions, depression, grief, and self-esteem. I also work with couples and families who may be experiencing unwanted amounts of conflict or relational stress or who would like to increase intimacy within the relationship.

Kierkegaard said life wasn't a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced. We will always experience joys and pain, strength and sorrow, and a little support can go a long way. As a therapist, I am not here to solve life's problems for you, but I am here to support you and your family while you experience the hard parts of life. I'm here to listen to and validate your world and help you develop skills or tools to cope with the tough times.

I believe every person can overcome the things that block them from leading a rich and fulfilling life. I know that every person deserves and can achieve radical healing, and that it shouldn't take a lifetime to get there. If you are ready to get to the root of your issues rather than just treat symptoms, you have come to the right place. I use deep listening, EMDR, IFS/parts work, and other somatic modalities to help my clients achieve profound and lasting change. I expect that you will see significant progress in the time we are working together, and if you don't, I will help you find someone who can offer that to you.

Life can be filled with a lot of difficulty but it doesn’t need to be so overwhelming or confusing! If you feel numb, overwhelmed, or sad for no reason, then you are not alone. Finding relief and peace in these struggles is possible through therapy. As a therapist I believe in being a friend and a guide by providing tools to improve mental health, coping skills, opportunities to process emotions/events, and even space for venting if needed. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly and work primarily with adolescents and young adults who have/had experienced depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, sexual abuse, grief, and religious trauma.

Accepting new clients now. Life can be challenging, from finishing college, to simply handling adulthood, and navigating big changes in life, to realizing you’re not where you thought you’d be by now. Others have shut down in the form of depression or paralyzing anxiety. When these ways of handling life’s stressors are not effective, there is help. I am so proud of you for taking the first steps and prioritizing your mental health.

There’s probably plenty that works about your life, and parts that you want to protect at all costs - you can still notice that you’re not okay. For adults with ADHD, therapy can provide relief and steps forward, from you putting words to your pain and letting it be heard by someone who believes you, from learning how your brain works in patterned ways, and from turning toward things you’ve been running from with the safety & support of a trained professional.

I work with adult and teenaged men and women whose chief complaints are of drug and alcohol addiction, sex and porn addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, childhood sexual abuse & adult sexual assault, LGBTQIA+ struggles, and death, dying, grief & loss. My approach to therapy is centered around work that is transformative in helping individuals become aware of patterns in how they listen, talk, think, and act. I have found that when that awareness happens, a fundamental shift in how we navigate and experience our life occurs, along with personal freedom and power.

Relationships are vital to our wellbeing. As social creatures, human beings need connection to thrive. This is what makes relational work so important to me. Whether repairing a connection that is broken or improving communication to prevent issues, a trained Couples counselor can help to provide the tools for success. A little about me-I have over 20 years experience in the medical field in which I gained experience in dealing with life transitions, grief, loss and other life changes good and bad. I bring this perspective into my approach. I offer a space that is judgment free and supportive.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
