Malakeia Scott -Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 9 years of experience in social work. A graduate of Clark Atlanta University with a Masters degree in Social Work. Her career began with counseling adolescents and teens with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. She has worked as a hospice social worker providing clients and their families with emotional support, resources and navigating end-of-life care. She has also served as a Therapeutic Support Specialist with the Division of Children and Family State Office Unit, serving youth in the child welfare system, and clients adjusting to life on dialysis.

It is my hope to hold space with you during your time of transformation and healing.” My approach is to create a safe, trusting, judgment-free therapeutic environment to bring your struggle into the therapy room real-time. I will work with you to create and shape an outcome that aligns with your life’s values, goals and direction. I hold an interest in existential, humanistic, person-centered, “here and now”, experiential and mindfulness-based therapy styles.

I am a highly motivated professional who enjoys working with people in supportive environments. I’ve always been passionate about children in care and helping others, and practiced psychotherapy in England before coming to the US. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychotherapy, with specializations in behavior analysis, person-centered and humanistic approaches. I also work with children who are diagnosed with autism and am a Registered Behavioral Technician.

Many people come to counseling feeling stuck in certain behaviors, relational patterns, or emotional cycles, perhaps without even understanding why, or without hope of lasting change. My desire is to journey with you toward emotional, mental, spiritual, and relational wholeness. You may be facing a broken relationship, suffering from disordered eating or body image concerns, have a history of sexual abuse or trauma, be living with or recovering from a serious illness, or be experiencing depression or anxiety. There is hope!

We help those who are on the path of holistic healing, integrating "whole"-istic health, depth psychology and a compassion based approach to our work. There are many factors that affect emotional and physical well-being, including our culture, society and family in which we were born into. Many of our deep seeded beliefs and patterns are often rooted in ideologies and relationships that are important to us.

I enjoy inviting people to therapeutic spaces to speak about the issues and challenges that are important to them. I consider the therapeutic space a sacred, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where people can share their stories, joys, celebrations, challenges, and struggles in life. Life is a journey and I desire to journey with you as you discover your authentic self by understanding your core beliefs, relationships, spiritual values, narratives, ethics, and family systems. My approach to counseling is collaborative and relational as I seek to partner with you towards a path of health and wholeness.

My perspective is that life is complicated and it's easy to get lost along the way as we face our own struggles like fear, insecurity, shame and worry. If we keep those struggles in the dark, they'll only take root and trip us up and make us start to forget truth. It's only by bringing those dark places into the light that those roots can vanish and we can see truth and grow in ways we could never imagine. It's my joy to partner with others through that process and remove the stigma in seeking help.

Why therapy? There are many answers to this question. It's a question I will ask when we first begin and you may or may not fully know the answer. If you are unsure at first, that’s okay. I promise we will figure it out together and by the end of our work you will have discovered why therapy was exactly what you needed in this moment of your life. And if you come to me knowing exactly what you need and why therapy is the way forward, I promise we will work very hard together so that you achieve what you desire.

Life can present many challenges. Some can be years of trauma, some painful grief, and others are transitions, such as losing a career, lifestyle change, loss of a friend or family member or an identity crisis. While those challenges can seem daunting, there is hope for enjoyment and vitality on the other side of those circumstances. Get a bird's eye view, full of nurture and support, while being challenged to go outside of your comfort zone and to experience life without the pain. Get past your hurt and hindrances, and gain emotional freedom, healthy relationships and peace of mind.

I am a down to earth, approachable person who enjoys meeting people and helping them find a way to navigate through the obstacles that life puts in their way. I do this by using the strengths clients already have, and by creating and developing new ones which we find together. I develop intimate relationships with my clients; therapy is serious business and there is a lot of work to be done, but I work side-by-side with my clients to achieve the goals we create in our initial sessions. There is room for laughter too, and there is plenty of that in therapy also.

I understand that therapy can feel overwhelming and intimidating! My goal is to support you in navigating those emotions and guide you on your healing journey. As a clinician, I believe in providing a safe space where you can freely express yourself without fear of judgment for your actions or for who you are as a person. Rachel is a licensed clinical social worker who provides therapy to individuals who are searching for an increased sense of emotional well-being and inner peace. She firmly believes that we all hold the answers within ourselves, but that we sometimes just need a little help accessing our own truth. Rachel utilizes strengths-based interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy in her work with clients. She has a strong background working with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance use. Rachel honors the individual and is inclusive of all cultural, religious, and political perspectives.
