I am Retired Army. I worked for 15 years with adolescents in mental health care for over 20 years. My hope is to save those in need of help from Suicide as it is increasingly rising in our Military and Black communities. Our Clinic provides a culturally sensitive therapeutic treatment environment. Receive the care you deserve. I believe that a firm understanding of an individual’s cultural background has a significant impact on the person's worldview and behavior. As a Company, we focus on the multi-cultures in our community. Now working with victims of Homicide in Group & Individual grief sessions.

I take a holistic, integrative, and integrated approach to therapy. I aim to treat the whole person, and sometimes even the whole family within my group practice. My objective is to partner with each client to support in accessing the resources, both internal and external, needed to achieve their individual goals. This drive is what led me to create Mind & Body Therapeutic Connections. We offer an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide: individual, family, and couples counseling, psychiatric medication management, nutrition counseling, acupuncture, yoga therapy, massage therapy, Reiki, personal training, group fitness & yoga.

As a licensed psychologist, I am focused on providing a safe, collaborative space where we can work together to explore concerns, bolster strengths, identify the things that are most important to you, and experience the freedom, courage, and skills to get unstuck from the things that can hook us all. As an evidence-based clinician, I am a strong believer in the benefits of research and seek to tailor the skills of psychological science to your own unique experience.

I’ve been in the mental health field for over 20 years and have been providing clinical care since 2011. I’ve worked with first responders crisis settings and provided services to first responders in a therapeutic environment. I work a lot with domestic violence, sexual trauma, and human trafficking. I pull from several modalities including CBT, trauma-focused CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, solutions focused, strength-based, and reality therapy. I like working with people who are motivated to improve their lives. Because I work with such a wide range of issues, I can be helpful and supportive in many different areas.

Many of us have gone through experiences that leave us feeling stuck, unmotivated, or without hope. The promise of counseling is that it offers us a framework where insight becomes possible and the opportunity for a relationship that is dedicated to knowing you deeply. In this sense, I believe we are partners working to understand your motivations, fears, and hopes so that you can feel a greater sense of freedom and empowerment in your life and future.

Therapy should be a safe place to reflect on our most vulnerable thoughts and feelings, even (especially) when they are uncomfortable. I hope to provide just that for clients I get to work with. My approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. My hope is that, together, we can tailor interventions that help you feel empowered to live the life you want to live.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
