Welcome! As a licensed clinical psychologist, I have been helping individuals and couples overcome obstacles to achieving happiness and contentment for over 30 years. Sometimes the issues can seem insurmountable when it's really the way one is trying to cope with them that is the problem. That way of thinking can often be adjusted and can make all the difference! Whether you're experiencing a situational adjustment related issue or a more longstanding one as an individual or couple with depression, excessive stress, anxiety or anger, help yourself by making an appointment and get started.

I get it, reaching out for help can feel intimidating and confusing. That is why I work to make people feel comfortable and accepted. I try to make the therapy process enjoyable with humor and affirmation. My approach is collaborative as I view therapy as a form of partnership. I have worked with both adults and children with a range of diagnoses including, autism, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, ODD, ADHD, emotional regulation, grief, life transitions, and self esteem issues. I believe that people are more then their diagnosis and that our mistakes do not define us, but are opportunities for growth.

Anxiety, depression, anger, conflict, children acting out, feeling chronic stress, panic attacks, experiences of trauma, searching for meaning, feeling empty, hopeless or helpless - these are all flashing lights on the dashboard of life telling us that something is not working properly.
I believe there is meaning in symptoms. We are designed to thrive. When something is out of balance our mind/body/spirit/relationships present symptoms to ask us to pay attention. I specialize in helping people discover what needs their attention. Then, I help people learn new skills so they are equipped to respond more effectively to their needs. I offer support as people practice necessary changes in their thoughts, managing their emotions, and interacting with others and their circumstances. Finally, I encourage and guide people as they seek to fully actualize their potential.

While working at A Step Forward Wellness Services, as a clinician I aim to provide a safe space for clients to feel comfortable to share their inner thoughts, needs and feelings. I do so by utilizing an array of therapeutic techniques grounded in Cognitive Behavior (CBT), Person-Centered, Solution-Focused and Strength-Based Therapy approaches. I realize that not one person is the same and it is important to meet people where they are in order to get the desired outcome, that is achievable.

I have spent much of my life driving the success of mental health initiatives from the systems and counseling level. This involved tackling issues through policy development and direct counseling initiatives. As a psychotherapist, I bring my wealth of experience to the outpatient setting, facilitating others to become their best selves through kindness and strategic supports. I practice from the belief that we can all live meaningful, fulfilling lives if we have genuine, knowledgeable supports cheering us forward.

I believe, within each of us, lay the resources & strengths to tackle life's challenges. I am here to support you on your path of transformation, recognize you are the expert on your own life, & facilitate a deep dive into your capacity for change. I am genuinely committed to working by your side as we learn from one another! I will not pass judgment based on where you have been, currently are, or may be going. Practicing from a trauma-informed perspective challenges shame & guilt as they raise their ugly head along your journey of change. No matter what you choose to reveal to me, I will hold you in high regard – truly, I will.

Hello everyone, allow me to introduce myself briefly so you can dive right into exploring my profile. My name is Nicole, and in my practice, I embrace the understanding that life can be challenging. Whether you're 16, 25, 42, or 60, we all encounter rough patches along the way. Yet, within each of us lies the potential and capacity to become the best version of ourselves. However, achieving that ideal can be difficult when you're feeling drained, stressed, or using coping mechanisms that hinder rather than help.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
