My first experience with therapy, was as the client. After surviving a traumatic event, I sought help from a therapist. Therapy proved so helpful, it was then, that my passion grew. While most of my experience has been in private practice providing individual therapy, I have worked in a county mental health clinic, an inpatient psychiatric setting and a residential group home. At the core of distress, we may find some form of unresolved shame, guilt, trauma, abuse or loss. I am here to provide "a safe place" to process those hurts, while helping you increase self-awareness and gain skills to lead a more fulfilling life.

I am a multicultural, holistic, trauma-informed, LGBT+ affirmative therapist and a core believer in resiliency of human spirit. Though you may consider me as the professional/expert, you are the expert of your lived experiences. I strongly believe that the client has a right to both be a recipient as well as an influencer within the therapeutic relationship. My job as a therapist is to act as guide while you are empowered to tackle both inner and outer barriers. I aim to hold a space for those who may not have access to any other arenas to feel heard and understood.

The questions I had about why people think and act the way they do led me to seek the answers. After studying psychology, I become passionate about using this knowledge to help others, and completed a Master's degree in Social Work. As a licensed clinician, I typically work with young adults who are are looking to overcome past traumas, going through life transitions, or are seeking help in learning to cope with daily stressors.

Immediate afternoon openings are available to process trauma, and manage difficult emotions. With a compassionate approach informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, I specialize in treating symptoms by addressing the underlying traumas and conflicts that may be holding you back.

I have experience in working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and school stress. I spent more than two years working at Cornell's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), which provided me with deep knowledge of the ins and outs of their mental health system, along with the pressures that one can face at college in regard to competition, academic stress, and building social connection. Being from upstate NY, I also understand some of the isolative parts of the experience, and adjustment to the uniqueness of the region. I am grateful to have a chance to share this experience and apply it to the therapy space.

Everyone functions uniquely, at times experiencing depression, anxiety, insecurities, doubt, and grief. I help people around these issues, as well as introversion, high-functioning Asperger's, bipolar, OCD, and social awkwardness...relationship issues, self-esteem, living with narcissists, identity. We can decide how to deal with life's changes, challenges, and transitions. We will focus compassionately on emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships to examine patterns and slowly change them. Our ability to observe and use our will to change are the most powerful tools we possess to bring about changes we desire.

I have experience spanning over thirty years and have worked with a wide variety of clients and famililes from diverse backgrounds and with a wide array of presenting issues. I have a passion for families and multigenerational issues as well as individual clients from such families.

I'll have a biweekly opening at 12pm on Tuesdays starting at the end of May. I offer an open, supportive, and individualized approach, meeting each person where they are. Fostering a therapeutic relationship involves building trust as we navigate through distressing emotions, situations, and overcoming barriers. My primary therapeutic focus is to help teenagers and adults to develop a stronger sense of self and to develop the coping skills they will need to address issues of anxiety, self esteem and self worth. I use a non-judgmental, trauma informed and holistic approach to help clients develop their ability to self soothe, including using body/movement and grounding techniques. I focus on both personal autonomy and understanding ourselves in relationships, with the goal of moving out of stuck feelings and thoughts to embody a more curious stance of your experiences and the world around you.

Someone once told me, "The best view comes after the hardest climb". Many of us have experienced loss, suffering, pain and heartache. Although we don't intend, it can be easy to stay in a feeling of defeat. Finding hope and seeing the incredible view after a journey uniquely climbed is where my passion lies.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with eight years of experience in providing individual, couples/family, and group counseling.
