I have been doing counseling and psychotherapy for over thirty years. I enjoy working with individuals and will include their significant others, including spouse, partners, family members, friends and (yes) pets. As I see it, my job as a therapist is to work with you to create an environment in which you will feel emotionally safe, and one in which you can feel OK talking about all aspects of yourself. This allows us to use your personal strengths and resources to resolve your difficultes so you can become more like the person you want to be.
I take into account that everyone has their own unique emotional and social style. So, I learn each person's view of their problems and their own definition of what their solution would look like. By doing this, I make sure that you and I are "on the same page."
I have worked in varied settings: community mental health, corporations, EAP, pain management. I have seen lots of different kinds of people with different issues. This has helped me to become a better therapist, recognizing that there are many ways to connect with my clients and many paths to solutions.
