People want to deal with relationships, school, work, family. and career issues, as well as general feelings of unhappiness. Our work together includes present problems, history, and the changes you would like to see for the future, as well as what seems to be getting in your way.

Currently accepting new clients in MA and virtually in VT. Sometimes making a change in our lives is more complicated than simply "trying our best." I work with clients to uncover their own strengths, and to regain power over the areas of life that feel overwhelming or out of control. My energy is warm and friendly, and past clients have appreciated the chance to explore difficult content in a non-judgmental environment. I treat individuals with PTSD and other anxiety and depressive disorders. Additionally, I work with adults adoptees and adoptive parents.

Therapy is about seeking balance and asking questions and looking for answers. Finding a balance between what we feel and what we know and a balance between the quicker emotional side of our mind and the more considered rational side are part of the process. Whether the questions are around interpersonal relationships, substance abuse, parenting, or career and motivation the answers will come only with this balance. My approach to therapy is about solving problems based on a relational and collaborative approach offering a supportive and sympathetic ear balanced with reality and solutions.

With sixteen years of experience working with adults of all ages, I have helped many individuals find their way through symptoms of anxiety and depression with gentleness and compassion. Often my work focuses on how we relate to ourselves and the world. By cultivating self-compasssion and challenging negative self perceptions, I believe we can begin to realize and feel our intrinsic wholeness. I also help clients to navigate interpersonal relationships and transitions, which can challenge us and impact our sense of community and our place in the world. Additionally, I focus on health, wellness and humor for psychological healing.

In our rapidly advancing world inundated with overwhelming information, experiences, and challenging news, it's natural to feel a sense of disorientation. We find ourselves questioning the values that once guided us and adapting to new ways of connecting, often leading to stress, depression, and other complex emotions. As a psychoanalytically trained therapist, I am dedicated to providing you with a secure and welcoming space where you can freely discuss your concerns. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing for a bilingual and culturally sensitive approach. I offer a sliding scale fee structure to accommodate your need

Therapy can re-establish your direction in life and restore your hope. What is not working for you? Do you feel stuck between thoughts and feelings that contradict one another? I have years in clinical practice supporting people to better understand their life experiences and the feelings holding them back. I make it comfortable to talk about sensitive topics, like sexuality and difficult relationship problems. As we find recurring themes and self-defeating patterns, you will discover ways to overcome sadness, fear and other emotional obstacles. Problems, once confronted, lead to insights and new found strength, self- acceptance and freedom.

Whether working with children, teens, adults, or families, I believe that most problems -and their solutions- are best understood in the context of relationships. I create a space where people can develop curiosity about thoughts, beliefs, and ways of interacting that feel constraining and move toward more preferred ways of being.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
