I specialize in treating complex trauma, grief, feelings of chronic disconnection, depression, anxiety, substance use, relational conflict, and difficulty with self esteem.
We are wired to flourish in connection, authenticity, mutual empathy, and mutual empowerment. Seeking help and beginning your transformational journey requires you to be vulnerable. We will work together to create a safe non-judgmental space for you to explore what has brought you to therapy, and identify what you would like to change through our work together.

My desire to become a Social Worker began when I was 12 years old. The Counselor at our school was also our basketball coach. He often smiled, appearing to have fun with my peers. During road trips, I had the chance to get to know more about him. Essentially, I decided I wanted to be him one day. Many of my clients have experienced chronic illness (including cancer, kidney disease), grief/loss, family conflict, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loss of routine and/or job, trauma, loss of identity. Developing safety & trust will be part of our initial work. Your vulnerabilities/uncertainties are welcome, and you are not alone.

Depression, anxiety, trouble concentrating, behavioral problems, insomnia, interpersonal conflict, low self-esteem, and flashbacks are just a few symptoms that can be caused by underlying trauma. Most of us have dealt with trauma in our lives. A traumatic event could be one isolated incident, such as a car accident or death in the family. Some individuals have experienced pervasive trauma, such as an ongoing medical procedure or family discord. At Robinson Counseling and Wellness, LLC we have clinicians who been trained to effectively resolve the symptoms of trauma and provide a safe environment for healing.

Are you struggling through a life transition? Whether it's a loss, marriage, divorce, change in family structure, a new medical diagnosis, job change, or something else, these transitions can affect other areas of your daily life. When our responsibilities require a lot from us, we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed trying to meet all the needs. Together we will identity some action steps toward positive change and discuss alternative ways to manage challenging situations, including looking at unhelpful thought patterns that can cycle and bring us further away from our goals. Let's address life balance and self-care.

Hi - It's nice to meet you! You have already taken the first step to becoming a better version of yourself. Many of the clients that I work with have undergone some type of trauma and/or are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, or a toxic or abusive relationship. Additionally, I have started serving women who are experiencing postpartum anxiety and/or depression.

Are you or a family member struggling with an addiction, loss, stressful job or other personal concern? As an active and engaging therapist, I have observed that when the chemistry between therapist and client works, the process of therapy can provide a multitude of results: curbing self-destructive patterns of behavior, providing relief from painful emotions, increasing productivity at work, increasing behavioral control and achieving greater meaning in one's life. I believe that these meaningful changes occur when there is a joint process of discovery in which the therapist attends to the expressed needs and goals of the client.

I find that most people who come to my office are in distress, and they want to feel better. First we try to ease the distress; then we try to understand more about what is causing it. Few things help more in this process than a relationship with a trusted and helpful advisor. Problems such as anxiety, loss, depression, poor self esteem, and difficulty in complex relationships can be solved given the right mix of time, talk, and support. Most people I see are grateful for the relief and valuable insight they gain into their own situations.

My specialties include eating and body image struggles, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, loss and difficult life transitions.
Entering therapy shows motivation to heal and grow often at a time when one feels most vulnerable. My approach is one of warmth and respect. I try to create an environment where clients feel free to discuss any problem. While I believe our past experiences inform our present life, I do not believe they define us. Difficult symptoms are often ways we have found to best manage painful emotions, thoughts and body sensations. Unfortunately, 'symptoms' occur when our 'solutions' for managing thoughts and feelings are no longer working for us. I strive to help clients find solutions that work better for them.

More specifically, people struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, drug/alcohol abuse, relationships, grief/loss, anger management, & life transitions.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by feelings of fear, anxiety, anger or sadness and don't know why? Have you ever felt like no one is really listening or truly understands how you are feeling inside? While taking the first step toward seeking help can be difficult, I believe finding a therapist who is the right fit for you can make all the difference. I would describe myself as a caring, genuine and candid therapist with a grounded, supportive and direct style that provides a calming environment, allowing you to feel comfortable and at ease in discussing your personal issues.

Specializing in anxiety, adjustment issues, trauma, I am concerned with issues around relationships, identity, life transitions, parenting and grief.
We're more anxious right now than ever, trying to navigate everything that is happening in our lives and our world. It's easy to get out of balance, especially during this difficult time. It's hard to navigate our own lives and now we have other worries, many that feel beyond our control. Drawing on my experience and training in existential philosophy and contemporary psychodynamic therapy...a compassionate rigorous insistence on taking responsibility for oneself, we’ll try to make sense of all this, navigating habits and patterns you keep falling back on; finding connections to the things you feel are most important in your life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
