I am a double board-certified physician and addiction specialist. My virtual private practice offers a warm, comfortable and safe space for anyone who is struggling with substance use and searching for help in addressing the wide range of associated psychological struggles and emotional issues. I provide individualized, evidence-based treatments incorporating psychotherapy and the judicious use of medications to alleviate your symptoms and restore you back to emotional wellness and assist you in finding your own personalized path to recovery.

I use a number of psychotherapeutic modalities with a particular focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy. Where appropriate, I prescribe carefully tailored medication in conjunction with psychotherapy to help my clients meet their goals. I am experienced in treating a wide range of mental health problems including anxiety, depression, insomnia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, alcohol and other substance use disorders, PTSD, grief and interpersonal conflict. I prescribe based on the best available scientific evidence and my clinical experience, and have no affiliation with any pharmaceutical company.

Patrick Haenlein, MD (pronouns: he/him) is a double-board certified Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. He completed his general adult psychiatry training at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and Columbia University Medical Center before continuing his education at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center where he completed his addiction psychiatry fellowship. Currently, he is an Attending Psychiatrist in the psychiatric emergency room at Mount Sinai West & Morningside Hospitals where he teaches medical students and residents.

My expertise lies in treating addiction and alcohol abuse in high functioning Executives and Professionals. Many of my clients seek treatment because their substance use is threatening their success: they have much to lose, and want to regain control of their lives. Rather than classify patients as "addicts" and put them in a one-size-fits-all spiritual or CBT program, my practice philosophy is a fully individualized, humanistic treatment approach. He has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Nursing from The Ohio State University. He has specialized training in managing mental health for clients living with HIV, and substance use problems.
