I am a fully licensed psychiatrist serving the NYC community with over 20 years of medical experience. Understanding the uniqueness of each patient’s situation is my main focus. I use my experience and continued learning to provide outstanding medication management therapy to promote healthy living and a better quality of life for all my patients. I stay dedicated to my patients and work in collaboration with them to identify the most effective treatment plan with consultations being catered appropriately to accommodate each individual’s needs and concerns so that they can meet their full potential.

I work with individuals who have anxiety, depression, mood disorders, insomnia, relationship problems, trauma history, medical illness, neurological illness, and/or individuals who are helping family members with these problems. My experience over the last 25 years in psychiatry has shown that medications are helpful but do not take care of all problems in life. I offer combined psychiatric treatment. I received my psychiatric residency training from Georgetown University Hospital and fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Thompson utilizes an evidenced-based holistic approach balancing psychotherapy with a conservative and efficient medication management approach. I am an allopathic physician trained in child and adolescent psychiatry. I have a faculty appointment at Yale Univ. School of Medicine - treating the most complex mental illness in the country. I am conducting psychedelic trials for treatment resistant depression as well collaborate with leader in pediatric anxiety disorders. All of this towards the singular goal of affecting meaningful change that helps patients (and their families, necessarily).

I am a Columbia-trained psychiatrist. I have a small private practice on the Upper West Side, which allows me to maintain a high level of focus on each of my patients. My goal is to collaboratively create an individualized and humanistic treatment tailored for each person who seeks treatment with me. I make use of multiple psychotherapy techniques in combination with medications.
