I am a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who sees patients of all ages both for psychotherapy and medication management. I take pride in how carefully I get to know patients and families. With warmth, humor, and kindness, I perform thorough diagnostic assessments, considering how biologic predispositions, developmental challenges, family dynamics, life stressors, and cultural factors contribute to patients' symptoms. I do extensive psychotherapy myself with patients of all ages, supplementing with medication only when necessary. I also collaborate with other therapists as needed to provide medication management.

Hi there, I have been trained to treat many psychiatric illnesses and issues, with both medication and therapy. The different types of therapy I use include DBT, CBT, supportive and psychodynamic therapy. My patient population ranges from children as young as 6 years old to adults. The majority of children I work with are struggling with anxiety or ADHD, often both. The adolescents and adults that I treat have a variety of issues, including anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders and mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder.

After completing medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, I entered psychiatry because I saw the impact psychological pain and suffering have on a person, including their health, functioning, and relationships. I saw how people get stuck and feel defined by that pain and suffering. Over the course of my training at Westchester Medical Center in general and child/adolescent psychiatry and in independent practice experiences in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, I had the privilege of helping people heal and emerge with a better understanding of themselves and their world.

I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who sees patients of all ages struggling with mood disorder, anxiety disorders, trauma, loss, ADHD, adjustment difficulties, attachment issues, family/social/professional stress and/or overall difficulty functioning. My aim is always to meet patients where they are and work jointly to get a thorough understanding of their symptoms, situation and all other contributing factors. I completed my psychiatric nurse practitioner training at NYU with a clinical focus in child/adolescent psychiatry. Since then I have worked extensively with adolescents coming out of intensive care programs for psychosis and children/adolescents with neurodiversity. I am also an adjunct faculty at NYU School of Nursing teaching inpatient psychiatric clinicals. I provide various psychiatric assessment and treatment, including psychiatric evaluation, medication management, individual therapy, school collorations and genetic testing. A typical initial evaluation is 90 minutes and the follow-ups are 30 minutes.

Susan P. Sherkow, M.D. is a Training and Supervising Analyst at BPI, a Supervising Child and Adolescent Analyst at NYPSI, and on the faculties of Mt. Sinai and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Sherkow has published in JAPA, The Psychoanalytic Study of the Child, and Psychoanalytic Inquiry, among others, on the topics of autism spectrum disorder, primal scene, intergenerational eating disorders, the diagnosis of sexual abuse in young children, watched play, and working in analysis with children under five.

I am an adult, child, and adolescent psychiatrist working primarily through individual psychotherapy. I see most of my patients on at least a weekly basis. Although I do sometimes prescribe medication, the management of medication is not my primary focus. I believe in psychotherapy because it is more effective than medication for most concerns, and because it can be a powerful, relationship-based experience that works to close past wounds.
