I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a passion for helping individuals live life to their fullest potential. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as a registered nurse in a variety of clinical settings, caring for individuals across the lifespan experiencing physical and mental health crises. I obtained a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, and have since gained experience working in inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, PHP/IOP, community mental health, and in providing interventional treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato.

My primary practice goal is to partner with the client, and when appropriate the client’s family, to determine the best approach in relieving suffering and improving wellness.  All aspects of an individual’s life can impact mental health and therefore I take a holistic approach when working with my clients.  This often includes lifestyle and environmental modifications, engagement in psychotherapy, and evaluation of appropriateness for medication treatment.

In addition to medication management, I use an Internal Family Systems (IFS) lens to approach healing. IFS is a non-pathologizing, transformative, and evidence-based psychotherapy that guides individuals toward access and love of their inner protective and wounded parts. This includes exploration of thoughts, feelings, sensations, and imagery. In addition to IFS, I draw from narrative therapy and other somatically oriented approaches including mindfulness and Vipassana meditation, and I am fascinated by the transformation that can occur when we become curious about the body’s wisdom.

I have been a Psychiatric NP for 15 years, treating Adult ADHD, Alcohol Use Disorders, Depression, Insomnia, Anxiety, and Panic attacks. I specialize in medication management and mindfulness meditation. I lived in a Zen monastery for six months and practice daily in my personal life. I am a certified tree-hugger, lover of music (rhythm-based; Celtic), avid reader, and long-distance hiker/walker.
