We all experience life in different ways. We all struggle with something mentally or physically. Some struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, or challenges with having a neurodivergent brain. At times just having someone who is objective to talk with can help. I'm that person. Confidentially and Autonomy are two important words that mean a lot to me as a therapist.

Making the decision to go to therapy is hard enough. Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable talking with about all the things in life that brought you to the office shouldn't be so hard. At Ellie Mental Health Pflugerville, we totally get it! Why? Because our therapists are just like everybody else! Being a therapist doesn't give us a "free pass" from all the struggles that can occur in life. That being said, we have the compassion, authenticity, and a sprinkle of humor to sit with you along your journey - no matter how big or small the issues you're dealing with.

We are a group practice (of psychiatrists and therapists). We have availability within 1-2 weeks (sometimes the same week!). We have 4.9 star average of over 300+ reviews (on our website). Feel free to call or message us to request an ASAP appointment. You might be a bit hesitant about receiving treatment over the internet if you haven’t done it before, and that’s totally understandable. If we can provide you any reassurance, most people end up finding they enjoy virtual visits more than going to an office.

I am passionate about working with neurodivergent folks (Autism, ADHD, OCD et al). I also frequently work with couples and polycules, as well as individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or nerdy creatives. When working with couples and relationships, I'm passionate about facilitating improved communication to resolve a recurring area of friction, cultivating awareness of unhelpful patterns so we can break them, and deepening the friendship and intimacy in the relationship. I frequently work with relationships where one or more partner is neurodivergent. I also offer online therapy groups for ADHD and Autistic folks.

It can be hard to find a therapist who understands how living with marginalized identities impact the way we show up in the world—and for ourselves. I take a culturally-responsive and somatic (mind-body centered) approach and value authenticity and inclusivity in my work. I support individuals in understanding how their experiences, relationships, identities, and culture impact who they are and their behaviors and interactions in the world. I specialize in working with young adults, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, and 1st and 2nd generation immigrants experiencing life transitions.

My aim is to acknowledge the concerns you have, and offer collaborative, compassionate, evidence-based, and practical strategies that align with your family’s goals. I am here to serve all families. ********Currently accepting clients for waitlist only********** When life brings us challenges that are hard to understand, we lose sight of the power we hold within. The challenge becomes our focus and it consumes us. Counseling is a process that can help us re-focus on what is most important: the power of the individual. Each of us holds the tools we need in order to be the best versions of ourselves. I embrace the opportunity to explore and hone your tools with you. Together, I believe we can discover ways to combine your strengths and your tools to overcome any challenge you face.

My ideal client is one who has dealt with anxiety and/or depression throughout life. The clients who have tried therapy periodically but struggle to maintain a stable mood. Clients who are uncomfortable in most environments and seem to always be on edge. These clients often face social, professional, and family struggles because they are reactive, defensive, and sometimes impulsive in both language and actions. People who struggle to be able to motivate themselves into action. These qualities can lead to feeling misunderstood and alienated. I have successfully treated clients that fit this profile.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
