I understand that relationships can be impacted by a multitude of stressors, including issues such as poor communication, infidelity, fertility challenges, financial concerns, grief, parenting differences, blended family dynamics, mental health issues, work-related stress, loss of intimacy, disabilities, family conflicts, addiction, and sexual concerns.
As a Relate-trained and experienced Relationship & Sex Therapist, I specialise in working with couples and individuals navigating various stages of intimate relationships. Whether you're currently in a relationship, single, or going through a separation, therapy can be a valuable tool for finding closure and moving forward. My approach prioritises creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel valued, respected, and empowered to explore their own resources and ideas for change. I focus on promoting healthier communication techniques and providing an unbiased, impartial perspective on relationship dynamics.

Hello and welcome. Are you a parent or carer? Are you worried about your child and need to speak with a clinical psychologist? At certain points in our lives, we could all benefit from the support and guidance of a therapist. I have over 20 years experience working with children and young people. I aim to give you helpful strategies that you can start to implement after I gather information about the issue/s you and your child are experiencing. If we both agree that the young person needs direct work/therapy, we can arrange this. Please visit my website to learn more about me or email me if you have a question or query.

After years in education I can help with bullying, learning difficulties, adolescence, self-esteem and parenting.
I am a transactional analysis psychotherapist and counsellor. I always appreciate that it takes courage to seek support and the first step can seem daunting. Therapy can help to organise your thoughts and feelings and free you from repeated patterns of behaviour that prevent you from leading a happier and more fulfilling life. You can learn to understand why those patterns are there and how to change them, so that they no longer control what you are trying to achieve for yourself. I work online and face to face (depending on availability of space). The virtual setting is calm, confidential and safe.

Are you yearning for change in your life but finding yourself unsure of where to begin? My therapeutic approach is systemic and solution focused. Instead of treating the troubled parts of ourselves as problems to get rid of, I see them as aspects that want to be seen. My aim is to help you gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of your distress, empowering you to find solutions and move forward in your life.

Because your history, personality, and circumstances are yours alone, you need a tailored approach to therapy. That said, all clients arrive for their first appointment for more or less the same reasons. You're struggling, and it's painful, and change feels so necessary and yet so impossible. You've tried to fix things, but nothing has worked, or it's not worked for long. You're tired of feeling like this, don't like it when you react like this, don't want to feel at war with life, or work, or other people, or your own mind anymore. You're out of ideas and want help to find a better way.

My approach is one of deep listening to what you bring. I offer gentle and caring support coupled with the belief in your inherent ability to heal. I work collaboratively, not giving advice but offering alternative perspectives and possibilities, interpretations, and a sense of containment and emotional holding. I believe that sustainable and safe change takes time and I follow the pace set by the client and work within their window of tolerance, which may change from session to session.

As an existential-phenomenological counsellor my role is to be alongside you in whatever has brought you to therapy, without judgement. In our sessions, through phenomenological exploration, we will delve deep into the fundamental questions of what it means to be human, such as the search for meaning, freedom, and what it means to have choice. Phenomenology seeks to understand human experience by opening your lived experience through description rather than explanation. Together, we explore the richness of how you have lived to date and how you would like to live, or die. Ultimately I will be guided by you, and your needs.

It can be a challenge to deal with life's ups and downs which can often leave us feeling worse for wear and you may find yourself saying "its just one thing after another"! Are you struggling to manage, notice yourself becoming more irritated, annoyed, frustrated and angry with yourself and others around you. Perhaps you are becoming more upset, hopeless and depressed, no longer enjoying things as you used to and feel that no-one understands you. If this is the case you may find it helpful to start to talk to someone about what is going on for you.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
