My name is Kim Byng, I am a fully qualified counsellor working in Derby. I have a background in working with clients affected by domestic violence (male and female) and also with victims of crime. I work with adult clients around relationship and attachment issues, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, loss, trauma, self harm, identifying patterns of relating to others, new relationships and personal growth. I generally use Transactional Analysis when working with clients, this involves inviting the client to examine their own processes and ways of relating to others so they can make changes in their lives.

Allowing you time & space to share your story whilst listening & showing you compassion & understanding is a crucial aspect of my work. I have frequently seen how, when they truly feel heard & accepted without condemnation or judgement, people start to feel less overwhelmed. I'll provide an emotionally safe, confidential, & supportive environment for you. I have specialised training & experience in sexual abuse & trauma. Women's issues, including fertility, infertility, pregnancy, ante/postnatal care, birth, peri/menopause, are of special interest to me, if you can relate to this, I would like to support you.

Currently 18 Years in Practice. Being human is mostly hard and life can be cruel. We see it time and time again. Bad things happen to good people, and we suffer. Each and every one of us at some point in our lives, finds ourselves lost and stuck. We can get depressed, anxious, angry, defensive and frightened. We can often avoid the things that bring us pain and as time goes on that list gets longer and longer and our life can feel smaller and smaller. Reaching out for help can be the hardest first step, but it's also the bravest and will prove to be one of the best decisions you will make for yourself.

I strongly believe that the client knows themselves best, therefore I listen not to diagnose, but to understand you and how you came to be. I appreciate everyone wants to be happy, but the idea of happiness will look different to everyone - to some, it may be having better relationships with their loved ones, to others, it may be excelling at their career, and others may want to have a better relationship with themselves. Together, we can work through the barriers like anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, or anything else. I have an MSc. in Integrative Psychotherapy from Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I qualified in July 2020. I also have a 19 year background as a Registered Mental Nurse (R.M.N.) in the NHS and a P.G.C.E. in Compassion Focused Therapy (2014). I offer psychotherapy for adults and couples. Welcome to Harmony Couples Therapy, my name is Ellen, and I am an experienced relationship therapist at Relate with nearly 20 years experience, and I also work with private clients. I work in person on Wednesday and Thursday evenings in Derby, and sessions are also available online. I regularly work with clients to help them make sense of a wide variety of issues such as managing conflict, trauma, separation/divorce, infidelity, bereavement, addiction, mental health issues and I have specialist training in working with couples affected by Aspergers/Autism and depression/anxiety.
