I am a person- centred experiential therapist (PCE) which means I work with what you as the client are experiencing in the moment and help you to explore your emotional process to gain meaning within it. If you are struggling to understand your own feelings this may be the model of therapy for you. Quite often there can be a disconnection between are thoughts and feelings as our thoughts can take over. PCE can help you to re -connect by focusing in on your emotions to gain deeper understanding. My belief is that past trauma/ anxiety is embodied and stays unresolved within us until we can connect with it.

Many of us find ourselves struggling to cope with past or current traumatic events, depression, work related stress, loss, relationship issues and various setbacks in life. It can feel very overwhelming if we mask our feelings and try to battle through alone. Perhaps you always put other peoples needs first and want to learn how to have your own needs met. You may have difficulties in your relationships and want to understand why unhealthy patterns of relating keep repeating themselves. Problems in our childhood such as abuse and neglect can rob our self esteem and confidence as adults. Counselling can help with many of these issues

Counselling changes lives. I believe most people, at some point, will benefit from counselling to help them understand difficult feelings and emotions they experience in challenging times. It takes courage to accept that we need help and support to work though our problems, whether they be anxiety, depression, bereavement, separation, work stress, relationships, abuse, trauma, PTSD or self esteem. We will work collaboratively to build a strong, therapeutic relationship based on trust, enabling you to be heard, valued and respected, whatever you bring. This process is empowering, enabling positive change to occur.

My focus is on collaboration to form a supportive and empowering therapeutic relationship centred on your needs. Alongside facilitating personal agency, I aim to situate the difficulties brought to therapy within the broader context they occur as problems seldom exist in a vacuum. I have over 10 years of experience in mental health services and I work across the lifespan from childhood to older adults and a range of presenting difficulties. I offer a free 15 minute consultation. This can then be followed by a more detailed assessment appointment. After this regular therapy sessions can be arranged to work on your identified goals.

I aim to offer a professional yet down to earth relationship in which you can explore your personal difficulties whatever they may be. Sessions are offered weekly or fortnightly, usually in an open ended way until you're feeling more like yourself again. Some people come for a few sessions, some for a few months and others decide to come longer term. Many people are now starting to use therapy over time and re-access support at times when it is needed most with someone who they trust to know them and their life well. I take a firm stance on challenging stigma surrounding mental health.

Sometimes the world seems complicated and life feels difficult. Maybe problematic relationships have stopped you trusting yourself and moving forward, or past traumatic experiences keep you stuck with anxiety and fear. You might find yourself repeating behaviours and patterns that you really don't want to, but the path forward looks foggy and is hard to navigate. I seek to support people to find a way to through problems, to grow and make changes in theirs lives and relationships, and feel more resilient in tough times, as well as being more able to appreciate and celebrate achievements.

I'm Nerys, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, wanting to invite you to book an initial online therapy session. In our first session we can get an idea of what your problems are, what you'd like to change and how many sessions it will likely take until you start feeling better. Together, we can work on creating the version of you that you would like to be. Imagine what you could accomplish with your new improved outlook. When we start, it's like emptying puzzle pieces onto a table. We start putting you back together to see the bigger picture, and how you can continue the work yourself.

I know that being a counsellor is something that was always meant for me because I have an affinity with people and being able to be 'with' them. This....and my life experience gives me the perfect grounding to be the best that I can be for my clients. Currently ONLINE ONLY

Do you want to understand yourself, feel better about yourself, and experience change in your life? I offer a collaboration which can bring you new perspectives and freedom from long-held patterns. You may have experienced trauma in your life or feel puzzled about why you feel as you do. Whatever the cause, the effects can be equally debilitating and distressing and can bring a sense of hopelessness, especially if you have tried to bring change. Experience shows me that self-knowledge, particularly in relation to the impact of the past on the present, naturally leads to change and a sense of release.
