I have been providing therapy within the NHS and private sector for over 10 years. I have worked across the full spectrum of client groups and helped people to overcome a wide range of difficulties. As a Doctor of Clinical Psychology I am trained in multiple different approaches and work with my clients to customise therapy to best suit their specific needs and personalities. I specialise in helping people to manage anxiety and low mood using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and helping people deal with traumatic experiences using EMDR. I believe in a positive, person centred approach to psychology.

If you are struggling with anxiety, confusion, feeling down or lost and the idea of labelling, diagnosis, treatment, medication, self-help or support groups aren't for you, then counselling will help. I bring compassion, wisdom, integrity and common sense. I have worked with the NHS, emergency services, local authorities, prisoners, long-term unemployed, private companies & individuals. If you've found yourself confronted by a problem that you are struggling to tackle and the alternatives of friends, family, the internet, GP's and other helping services don't seem to work or aren't available, then coming for counselling will help.

I am a person- centred experiential therapist (PCE) which means I work with what you as the client are experiencing in the moment and help you to explore your emotional process to gain meaning within it. If you are struggling to understand your own feelings this may be the model of therapy for you. Quite often there can be a disconnection between are thoughts and feelings as our thoughts can take over. PCE can help you to re -connect by focusing in on your emotions to gain deeper understanding. My belief is that past trauma/ anxiety is embodied and stays unresolved within us until we can connect with it.

Many of us find ourselves struggling to cope with past or current traumatic events, depression, work related stress, loss, relationship issues and various setbacks in life. It can feel very overwhelming if we mask our feelings and try to battle through alone. Perhaps you always put other peoples needs first and want to learn how to have your own needs met. You may have difficulties in your relationships and want to understand why unhealthy patterns of relating keep repeating themselves. Problems in our childhood such as abuse and neglect can rob our self esteem and confidence as adults. Counselling can help with many of these issues

Ever wondered if therapy is just a load of nonsense? Or that despite life feeling excessively challenging, there's nothing really wrong with you anyway? I was a sceptical client, so I understand the temptation to power on through or to hide away from the world and cope on your own. I firmly believe you will have been trying to live your best life and I don’t believe you are to blame for any stressful or depressing feelings that you might be experiencing. My aim is to understand your unique circumstances and together we can work to fulfil your needs and give you the ability to make positive choices in life.

Sometimes it may feel like the world is full of judgments. It can be so difficult to stay true to ourselves and follow our own compass without being judged or criticised. How do we find our own compass and trust ourselves if most of us have been conditioned from early childhood? I believe people have the potential to self-heal and grow, to develop and change when the right support and environment is offered to them. This enables people to trust their feelings and be less reliant on the judgement of others.

Hi, thanks for landing on my page. I'm an ex-professional footballer who has retrained as a therapist. First of all, I want to recognise that you've taken a huge and brave first step by reaching out for help. My role as a counsellor is to listen to your story, then work with you in a supportive and containing way to make sense of what is going on for you. Feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, stress or worry can limit our capacity to perform and have a hugely negative effect on our day-to-day lives. I am a highly empathic, friendly, patient and respectful professional, and I genuinely want only the best for you.

I aim to offer a professional yet down to earth relationship in which you can explore your personal difficulties whatever they may be. Sessions are offered weekly or fortnightly, usually in an open ended way until you're feeling more like yourself again. Some people come for a few sessions, some for a few months and others decide to come longer term. Many people are now starting to use therapy over time and re-access support at times when it is needed most with someone who they trust to know them and their life well. I take a firm stance on challenging stigma surrounding mental health.

Sometimes the world seems complicated and life feels difficult. Maybe problematic relationships have stopped you trusting yourself and moving forward, or past traumatic experiences keep you stuck with anxiety and fear. You might find yourself repeating behaviours and patterns that you really don't want to, but the path forward looks foggy and is hard to navigate. I seek to support people to find a way to through problems, to grow and make changes in theirs lives and relationships, and feel more resilient in tough times, as well as being more able to appreciate and enjoy achievements.

Do you want to understand yourself, feel better about yourself, and experience change in your life? I offer a collaboration which can bring you new perspectives and freedom from long-held patterns. You may have experienced trauma in your life or feel puzzled about why you feel as you do. Whatever the cause, the effects can be equally debilitating and distressing and can bring a sense of hopelessness, especially if you have tried to bring change. Experience shows me that self-knowledge, particularly in relation to the impact of the past on the present, naturally leads to change and a sense of release.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in L2 are psychologists, licensed counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualised treatment.

Services offered, education, and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in L2 then may specialise in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counselling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.
How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in L2, or Child Psychologists in L2.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like L2 psychologists specialising in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in L2 specialise in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

Can I afford counselling?
Yes. Most counsellors offer reasonable rates or will work on a sliding scale basis. Many accept health insurance. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the counsellor.
