My work draws on the humanistic, existential and psychodynamic traditions of Western psychology, and is grounded in the wisdom of Eastern philosophies, somatic work, mindfulness and meditation.
Suffering is an inherent part of the human experience. In the course of a lifetime, crises happen, unpredictable challenges arise, and in response we develop habit patterns that are often protective but also inhibit our growth and freedom. Therapy will help clear the path so that you can see a way forward. I walk that path with you and provide a container for self-exploration and inquiry. I work with mood disturbances, trauma, attachment issues, self-esteem, and spiritual emergence. Depth therapy is a journey that will take you into yourself and lead you back to yourself while being witnessed by a safe, compassionate presence.

Hi, I am Krista. Before anything else, I just want to say: sometime's life is not where we want it to be, and that is hard. Specifically for women. But it doesn't have to stay that way! There are tools you and I can use to manage and let go. That anxiety, or the pain you hold from that relationship ending. Maybe even some lingering depression connected to your self worth and past beliefs. Together, we will work through these tough parts of life. We will build self-esteem. We will release stuck traumas. We will re-connect to our bodies to cultivate a deep knowing of who you are. Lets discover your inner worth.

Do you walk on eggshells or do you live to please others for fear of making others upset? The reason you can’t seem to heal your chronic stress & depression, health and finances in your relationship, isn't because you haven't already tried talk therapy and various healing modalities; it’s because of a dysregulated nervous system and codependency from long-term narcissistic abuse with an angry person. You need to break free and heal from this within, untangle the confusion in your mind, gain clarity and be your sovereign and most authentic self, where you validate and approve of your core self. Feel safe and confident to be you.

PHONE/VIDEO only. Do you overthink? Do you encounter the same experience in your head repetitively, as if the cycle will benefit you in some way? Are you a people-pleaser and are scared of disappointing others? Perhaps you are so hard on yourself that it is difficult to overcome even minor mistakes. You feel so deeply wounded & have been for some time. Trying to increase that self-esteem although continuing to fall short. You often experience self-doubt yet desire to believe in yourself. Let's talk. It isn't easy seeking out support, but you did it. Everyone at some point in life experiences difficulty and hardship.

Are you experiencing a lot of burnout? Are you tired and often feeling the effects of tiredness on your body? It feels difficult to have the energy to get through the day. You are so focused on work - you put in long hours, you are getting promoted but you’re wondering whether you even have the energy to show up for all this. For a relationship or all of the other things in life outside of work. You’ve done all of the right things to get ahead but you can feel that something feels missing. Even though you are burned out, you know that stopping work feels difficult. You know you need to prioritize your health and relationships.

Do you feel or have been told that you are “too dramatic”, “too sensitive”, “too hard on yourself”, “care too much about other people” or “need to get over your trauma.” Do you notice physiological responses to everyday occurrences and do not know why or have tried many different things to get rid of! I believe all these things that you may of been told are unique qualities and amazing strengths that helped you survive hard experiences. I offer an inviting space, where we can help find your inner resources to help manage and lessen whatever you feel is getting in the way of being present and live a life that you imagined.

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
