Although the adults whom I assist come with a wide range of presenting problems - such as sexual dysfunctions, mental health issues, relationship conflict, and addictions, the underlying problem is that we are all suffering emotionally, longing to feel understood, and to acquire the tools that will relieve our distress.

I have a non-judgmental and compassionate presence and I use this to create a comfortable environment and secure relationship with each client.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that we all have the capacity for change and continual growth. No problem is insurmountable, sometimes we just need a little help - whether we feel slightly stuck and need a push to start moving again or feel completely overwhelmed and need someone to help us see things from another perspective. No matter what you are struggling with, my aim as a therapist is to be by your side as you take on this journey of self-discovery and growth.

(Research tells us that being able to create a good relationship with your therapist is the most important part! So it's good to get that one right out of the gate.
Hi, I'm a Vancouver-based Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC, offering virtual counselling sessions. I'm known for creating deep connections with my clients, and have a warm, down-to-earth presence. The goals of my work are to help clients both identify and process their emotions in healthy, manageable ways, as well as build secure, fulfilling and boundaried relationships with others. Not the least of which is the relationship the client has with 'self'. Who are you at your core? This important information helps combat things like insecurity, indecisiveness, perfectionism, loneliness and lack of direction.

As a Registered Psychologist, I work from a positive place, seeing disordered behaviours as ways of coping that create problems as well as solves them. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their goals and desires. We may use a motivational approach at first, if appropriate. Then we may focus on barriers to recovery, dysfunctional thinking, practical strategies for change, and past painful experiences or trauma, if relevant, using relationship-based, cognitive behaviour therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and emotion focused approaches. At the end of our session, I write my notes in the form of a letter to share.

I have trained extensively in a therapeutic model called Narrative Therapy, an approach to counselling work that helps individuals to renegotiate their relationship to unhelpful stories and patterns and to connect with what matters to them in life.
Many of us have experienced the impacts of negative stories or beliefs about ourselves. These stories can serve to separate us from our preferred ways of living and being in the world. Have you had these types of experiences? Has this resulted in anxiety, depression, anger, low self-worth and/or despair or challenges with substance use? My work is focused on supporting you to renegotiate your relationship to these unhelpful stories. I am skilled at supporting people to (re)connect with their values, and hopes and to develop a new and preferred picture of themselves.

While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
