I am an RCC and somatic attachment psychotherapist with the BCACC. I specialize in adult ADHD, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, grief & loss, anxiety, and depression. I work with individuals and couples. I strive to provide a counseling space that fosters safety, encourages growth, and supports each individual’s innate healing potential. I value allyship with the Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. I focus on long-term healing by unpacking current triggers through finding the root cause which is often linked to deep routed childhood trauma.

As a Registered Psychologist, I work from a positive place, seeing disordered behaviours as ways of coping that create problems as well as solves them. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their goals and desires. We may use a motivational approach at first, if appropriate. Then we may focus on barriers to recovery, dysfunctional thinking, practical strategies for change, and past painful experiences or trauma, if relevant, using relationship-based, cognitive behaviour therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and emotion focused approaches. At the end of our session, I write my notes in the form of a letter to share.

Our upbringing creates our stories. Our experiences and relationships shape our lives. We do not always get to choose our past, but if you are feeling alone and lost, we can start finding change by reviewing your past, understanding your present, and writing your new paper path forward towards the life you want to live. One that is aligned with your values, beliefs, and goals as well as finding others that share those with you.

Hi, I'm Magdalena! I work with people who say daily, "I'm overwhelmed". They struggle silently and feel all alone. Those who appear capable and composed, yet inside, are navigating anxiety, self-doubt, disconnection, or a deep sense of being lost. I work with those in life’s in-between space, when identity, purpose, or relationships feel uncertain, feel unmoored. Whether you're facing adulthood, planning your career, stressed with work dynamics, navigating romantic relationships or grieving a stage of life or your body. I offer depth-oriented, emotionally attuned, inclusive therapy for those who carry a lot and rarely feel seen.

Sometimes, it may seem impossible to show up confidently in our unique ways of expression and remain in connection with others. I know what it is like to feel alone, to feel stuck without a clear way forward. It takes courage to seek support with a desire to enter the world differently.

My mentor once asked me why I wanted to be a therapist and I said I wanted to help people out of hell. I personally have known such pain and therapy saved my life. I work one-on-one with co-dependents, people with addiction and anxious and/or depressed individuals. I worked for 30 years in an outpatient clinic and used such models of therapy as CBT, DBT and client centred. I especially like to work with people suffering from trauma. So many memories from childhood lie buried; not conscious and yet they have such a self-destructive impact on our identity, emotions and behaviour.

Are you feeling anxious, emotionally drained, or stuck repeating the same patterns in your relationships? Maybe you find yourself putting others first, second-guessing yourself, avoiding conflict, or feeling emotionally drained from trying to keep everything together. These patterns can affect how you relate to yourself and others, often leaving you feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to create lasting change. As a counsellor in Vancouver, I work with individuals and couples across BC who are navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, low self-worth, emotional overwhelm, and patterns that feel difficult to shift.

Welcome. I'm Sasha - a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology. I know that it can be overwhelming, even paralyzing, to just be with yourself in your own head. Because of this, I feel called to sit with others in therapy. I strongly believe that we are not stuck or feeling unwell due to "personal failing"; rather, I believe that our challenges come from learned and at one time protective strategies/beliefs, which may need updating. I have seen, for both myself and my clients, that adopting this stance allows us to be more willing to change, accept and find relief.

Although the adults whom I assist come with a wide range of presenting problems - such as sexual dysfunctions, mental health issues, relationship conflict, and addictions, the underlying problem is that we are all suffering emotionally, longing to feel understood, and to acquire the tools that will relieve our distress.

Have you been in talk therapy before and found that how you see things may have changed, but how you feel hasn't shifted completely? Does it sometimes seem like a war within yourself, experiencing conflicting thoughts or feelings? Are you afraid that if you open your emotional tap, you may never be able to turn it off? Do the options for change or skills to process life's challenges seem elusive or unattainable? You may be looking for an off-ramp to a cycle you feel stuck in. You long for more ease, balance, and joy within yourself and with others. There is a desire to have more choices, options, and possibilities ahead.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
