Accepting New Clients! I work with individuals struggling with emotional dysregulation, parenthood, relationship issues, and childhood trauma. As a working parent, I understand how difficult it can be to manage stress, to feel frustrated, and overwhelmed. It’s hard prioritizing mental health when you are already burdened with so many responsibilities whether finances, home, relationships, school, or work. I provide the support and resources clients need to regulate their emotions, adapt better coping mechanisms, reduce their toxic stress, and stop feeling guilty for prioritizing themselves!

My areas of strength include: working with (and through) the experience of trauma, attachment issues, anger/aggression, ADHD, anxiety, depression, parent-child conflict, and separation/divorce.
Navigating some of life’s more difficult challenges can sometimes be an overwhelming experience. You might be feeling worried, stressed, angry and questioning your place in the world. It is my hope and honor to act as an empathic guide, by creating a safe and supportive environment in which you can explore any confusing or unsettling thoughts, emotions, behaviors and relationships you may be experiencing. I offer a collaborative and creative approach to help you cultivate a deeper understanding of any potentially negative patterns, and seek to enhance your strengths and resiliency to challenge and change them as they arise.

Welcoming a new baby can be both rewarding and challenging, no matter how experienced you are as a parent. If you are feeling overwhelmed, sad, or just not yourself, you may be experiencing the effects of post-partum mood disorder (depression, anxiety, OCD, etc.). Many individuals suffer in silence, worried that their issues are not big enough. As a mother of three, I know we can all use a bit more help and support at times (and a lot more self compassion!). With specialized training in perinatal mental health and birth trauma, as well as grief and loss, my role is to help you through this journey.

I specialize in perinatal mental health, grief, parenting, and burnout - particularly for helping professionals like nurses, CAS workers, teachers, and my fellow therapists.
You're constantly feeling on edge and don't know where to turn next. You don't know if you can keep going as you are without making some changes. But even thinking about those changes makes you feel uncertain or scared. Maybe you feel nausea or fear or shame about yelling at your kids. Maybe you feel empty or you have consuming thoughts about your life choices. Maybe you're just exhausted because things are hard. People come to me to move away from feeling overwhelmed, trust themselves again, and to feel better in their lives (as they define it). If any of this sounds like you, I promise you're not alone in feeling this way.

Women’s Issues Therapist. You have been feeling overwhelmed since your separation/divorce. You have managed to push aside the many emotions that come with losing a relationship while being a parent. Your child has started acting out at school and you blame yourself. You feel helpless and don’t know how to help your child or yourself. You have told yourself that you are okay yet you often find yourself feeling anxious, depressed, and sad. You have learned to put on a brave face to get you through the day. You’re exhausted trying to convince yourself that you are okay. You wonder if it’s ok to focus on yourself for once.

As a psychodynamically trained psychotherapist, I have helped people with many challenges including anxiety, depression, relational and family conflict, parenting challenges and the ongoing impacts of trauma, with a special interest in transgenerational, racial, and trauma of displacement.
We seek out therapy for many reasons, but the process of finding a therapist who is a good fit for us can itself feel overwhelming. I first and foremost offer a safe space where you can feel heard, seen and understood. My approach to therapy is relational and collaborative, which means that it is the co-created relationship between us that is the healing force of therapy. Our sessions draw upon experiences from the past and bring to light how these get replayed, with or without our knowing, in our present ways of thinking, feeling and relating to others. Together we explore these repetitive patterns that can keep us feeling stuck.

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
