I have a lot of experience working with those who are neurodivergent, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
I approach therapy from an eclectic approach, drawing from several theoretical orientations and approaches to best fit the needs of each client. I use a trauma-informed lens to best support the needs of a wide variety of individuals. I recognize the importance of a past and present approach, exploring the past and how it affects the present, and the importance of adaptations made by them throughout development. I believe that each client is the expert in their own lives, thus they take the role as a passenger and GPS, guiding when necessary, listening and being present always.

You're a Muslim parent worried about your anxious child who's struggling at school, or a young adult feeling caught between your faith and the pressures of Western culture. Maybe you've tried therapy before but felt misunderstood when you mentioned prayer or Ramadan. Perhaps you're carrying trauma—from childhood, migration, or discrimination—and you're exhausted from explaining your background to therapists who don't get it. You want healing that honors your whole self: your mind, your faith, your culture. You want a therapist who understands why Jummah matters, and why mental health and spirituality aren't separate.

Welcome to Therapy Heals! I recognize that therapy is a process that embraces the willingness to look beyond my lens and hold space for my client's narratives, as experts of their own story. Challenges and issues can be engaged within a container of safety created by compassionate, empathetic therapeutic relationships. I am a firm believer that healing happens in the presence of such a connection. That the work of healing happens through reconciliation and/or through a reparative, restorative, and corrective experience.

Hey! I’m Patricia Di Giorgio. I work with people who keep everything going for everyone else while quietly running on empty. Maybe you’ve been carrying so much for so long that you’re not even sure where to begin. You’re stuck in your head, overanalyzing everything while feeling more anxious, angry, sad, or overwhelmed than ever. Recent life transitions, relationship challenges, or identity questions stir up emotions that feel too big to manage or understand on your own. Part of you wants to open up, and part of you isn’t sure what to say, or if therapy could even help - and that’s completely okay.

I believe that each one of us is the sum of all the journeys we have taken and all the people we have met along the way. We navigate peaks and valleys, traveling up or downstream. At different junctures in our lives, we find ourselves in an ‘in-between’ not knowing which path to take. It is through my own journey and the ones I have taken with others that I have come to bear witness to the strength, courage, and wisdom we each have within us. In my work with individuals, couples, children and youth, I explore challenges, crisis, loss and struggle within the context of one’s interpersonal relationships.

When life feels heavy, even getting through the day can feel like a battle. Maybe your mind never stops racing, you wake up anxious, or you’re carrying the pressure to hold everything together while feeling like you’re falling apart inside. You say yes when you want to say no, feel guilty for setting boundaries, or feel disconnected in relationships that once felt safe. You might be unmotivated, overwhelmed, or exhausted from constantly trying to be “okay.” Whether you're an adult, a teen, or a parent seeking support for your child, it can feel confusing and lonely when you want things to change but don’t know where to begin or how.

My focus areas are in sex and relationships (identity, communication, conflict resolution, pleasure, ENM, infidelity, etc), self growth (self-love, body acceptance, boundaries, etc), and mental health ( ADHD + neurodivergence).
One of my strengths is that I am honest, unfiltered, sensitive, and relatable - I am a messy human first and a therapist second. I can't give you the answers, because I don't have them, but together, we can explore the options and possibilities available to you based on your unique needs and wants, with curiosuity, compassion, and in a judgement-free space.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
