Before pursuing psychotherapy and counselling, I spent 12 years working with children/youth in the foster care system. There I gained experience working with individuals with complex trauma, FASD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. My area’s of interest include religious trauma, navigating anxiety and depression, grief processing, identity formation, emotional regulation, and self-esteem.
My therapeutic approach includes several modalities including DBT, Emotion Focused, Narrative, and Person-centred therapy. My practice focuses on strength based and trauma informed approaches to therapy that builds a collaborative, empathetic, and authentic therapeutic relationship with clients to promote personal growth.
As a cis-gay-white-settler and a survivor of religious-based conversion therapy, I am aware of the intersecting realities of privilege and oppression. I work from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and anti-colonial framework and I welcome clients from all races, traditions, gender identities and sexual orientations.
