To put it simply, I love people. And what inspires me as a therapist is the opportunity to serve others through authentic connection and collaborative insight into clients' thoughts, feelings and actions. While drawn to cognitive behavioral and Mindfulness interventions, for me, providing a safe, warm and open relational component is key. Whether working with couples, individual adults or adolescents, and issues ranging from anxiety, depression, trauma, or sexuality, intimacy and interpersonal functioning, it is a privilege to hold your confidence and assist you in your journey towards integration and wellness

Life isn't always easy. We get hurt, confused, misunderstood. People we count on are not always there for us in times of need. Some of us de-stress with connection, some by being alone. This conflict can leave us feeling abandoned or overwhelmed. Therapy uses curiosity about ourselves to become more resilient, self aware, & relational. Not all problems get solved by random talking. My tools help you get unstuck and deepen your sense of intimacy with yourself and others. Your first time with therapy can be comfortable and productive. Check out the articles I've published in Psychology Today and call for a no obligation consult.

Hello, thank you for reading my profile. My passion is to help you feel more fulfilled, empowered, and present in your life. Life is hard, trauma is real, and inequality is systemic. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to feel how you feel, as you come to better understand your thoughts, experiences, and relationships. I believe we each possess unique inner strengths and resources to help us move through life and get out of our heads (and into the moment). My personal and ongoing experience with grief allows me to meet you 'where you are', at your own pace, as we co-develop strategies that work for you.

We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.

Society tells us becoming a parent should to be natural, joyful, and will happen within our desired timeline. For some there is truth to this, but many parents are left disoriented with the gap between their expectations and reality. We are urged to pour into our children, give them all of our attention, but also find time for ourselves and our relationship. The challenges of this stage of life can leave parents feeling lonely, overwhelmed and with a sense of personal failure. You might wonder who you even are anymore and if things will ever change - If you are struggling, you are not alone, and it doesn’t have to stay this way.

I enjoy working with women, trans and non-binary people who have had long-term mental health struggles and a history of trauma. The people I see are often struggling with understanding the impact of childhood wounds, stressful relationships involving difficulty with intimacy or autonomy, coping with the after-effects of sexual violence and/or feeling stuck in emotions such as shame and loneliness. These people may be trying to reconcile their values and desired way of being in the world with intense reactions that seem to come out of the blue. I also do work regarding gender, sexuality and neurodiversity.

Note: In-person services coming in May - I see therapy as a safe space to explore our inner worlds while developing an awareness of how the external world impacts us. I seek to support clients in accessing their internal wisdom and sense of self to become more attuned to their needs and live a life more aligned with their hopes and dreams. As a holistic therapist, I recognize the interconnected nature of the mind, body, and soul. My approach to holistic healing and transformation draws inspiration from conventional psychotherapy methods while integrating diverse holistic practices that foster well-being for the mind, body, and soul.

Are you finding it hard to be the parent or partner you want to be? You may not know who you are anymore or recognize the person you've become. I work with parents as they navigate mental health concerns in themselves or their children. I also support folks with intimate relationships. As a therapist, I strive to create a nurturing space where we can unpack your thoughts and feelings, look for patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and examine how challenging experiences, past and present, may be impacting how you show up in your challenges now. I want you to feel relief and to feel more connected to yourself and your loved ones.

I’m here for the parents who aren't ready to give up hope, and for the teens and young adults who are clinging to life. Whether because of trauma, of neurodivergence (ADHD/ADD) or the need for a more gender-affirming world, life has been rocky. It’s been difficult to connect, sleep has been elusive, panic has been setting in and the future seems sort of bleak. At least that’s how it’s been, at least for right now. So you're looking for a therapist who gets it: your gender identity, your life experience and your inner knowing matter.

Finding a safe space to share what is really on our mind can be tough. Perhaps the closest relationships around us feel tense, and we could use a gentle place to work through our own feelings of worry, stress, and hurt. Maybe you are hoping to better understand your own experience, to improve the way you show up in the different parts of your life that mean the most. I offer a holistic, trauma-informed approach, and recognize individual resilience and creativity. I work with those trying to take care of themselves while working through tough interpersonal issues, and provide a compassionate, nonjudgemental space.

Feminist Counsellors

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
