Daryl’s approach to counselling services is to provide an atmosphere of trust, respect, honesty and sincerity. His primary approach to counselling is Narrative Therapy. Using this approach, Daryl can listen closely and actively question for details in the narrative that support the individual’s values and strength-based skills. These details are then used to configure and guide the counselling sessions. By listening for and acting upon specific details that are being infringed upon in the given situation, the client and Daryl can align their mutual cognitive understandings of the values and skills.
Daryl’s field of specialization is that of trauma and how acute (instant events) or chronic (long-term events) trauma adversely affects the human psyche. He has focused specifically on how stress, anxiety and depression in educators and healthcare providers lead to compassion fatigue and empathy erosion. He is AFFA certified in Occupation Trauma Awareness
Compassion fatigue, occupational stress injury, and burnout can affect all members of a society. Anxiety and depression are significant indicators towards burnout. My mission is to assist those, whose empathy, compassion and professionalism have been eroded, by providing a nonjudgmental, safe and caring therapeutic environment.
