As a second-generation Indo-Canadian, I too have often found it overwhelming and confusing to keep up with the different roles that are expected of us. Living up to these expectations may feel impossible. It is not unusual to have a hard time saying "no", and put yourself and your needs last even when you might not want to. It is common to question your sense of self and be curious about a life that feels more true to yourself and that aligns more with your values. Even reaching out for professional support can feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar.
