This means I work a lot with clients who are struggling to create their family (infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss) or are struggling with mental health issues during and/or after pregnancy (depression and anxiety).
I am passionate about my work, and have dedicated the last 15 years of my life to helping people create change. My clients are dealing with real life issues - relationships, fertility struggles, adjustment to parenthood, family of origin dynamics, and major life transitions. I aim to create a space where clients are free to explore their fears, doubts, strengths, and needs. Some clients require a faster, more solution-focused therapy process, while others want to meet regularly and have that person to continually connect with and receive support from. I am open to both and see it as a privilege to be invited into people’s lives.

I work with women and parents who’ve spent years doing their best - managing work, relationships, and family - yet still feel anxious, overwhelmed, or never quite enough. They’re tired of holding it all together and want space to slow down, feel seen, and find steadier ground. My clients want to understand why they keep pushing past their limits and learn how to care for themselves with the same compassion they offer others. Together, we create practical, meaningful ways to feel more like themselves again.

I have helped parents and mothers through their unique journeys of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting for over a decade as a midwife, and now as a clinical counsellor.
Whether for birth trauma, pregnancy loss, or postpartum issues, my clinical knowledge of maternity care deepens my understanding and empathy, which I hope brings you comfort. In this overly baby-centric world, our time together begins by putting the focus gently back on you. Validation of your story, needs, and values brings clarity and healing.

First of all, I wanted to say thank you. Looking for a therapist, for yourself or for someone close to you, requires energy and courage. Whether you are experiencing a particularly difficult or different situation recently or for a long time, whether you are in a deeper and more latent reflection, therapy is an answer to those aches and thoughts that fill and overwhelm you. Respecting yourself by offering you the possibility to feel better is, to my opinion, the most important step you are going to take for you. I propose therapy in English and French.

I offer therapeutic support in areas such as: Perinatal, early childhood, and adolescent experiences and memories; Ancestry, family of origin, and relationships; Life transitions; Stress and overwhelm; Depression and anxiety; Anger and grief; Guilt and shame; Parenting and caregiving; Social and cultural conditioning; and Meaning, purpose, and values.
Just as a seed grows into a plant, and a plant seeks water and reaches toward light, there is an intrinsic capacity within all living organisms to heal and to grow, and a natural inclination to move in this direction. My approach is guided by trust in the wisdom of this life process. I am a holistic practitioner working in the realms of psychotherapy and birth care, with a focus on human attachment, lifespan development, and caregiving "from womb to tomb." Birth psychology and attachment relationships are areas of special interest.

My therapeutic approach has been influenced by a range of disciplines and anti-oppressive frameworks - however, my practice is most influenced by Narrative Therapy. Narrative therapy invites the therapist and person seeking change to work collaboratively in unpacking unhelpful narratives that are carried and re-authoring our own narratives towards new, helpful changes. Problems often dominate the story of who we are and help us to make unhelpful conclusions about ourselves. In fact, many people report that those problems can completely consume their sense of who they are. From this approach, I hold the stance that ‘you are not the problem, the problem is the problem’ (White, M) and together, we can explore how problems may be dominating your story, working together to re-author it. In my experience I have worked with many individuals, families, and couples renegotiating their relationship to various problems. Contact me today to discuss re-authoring your narrative.

Do you often feel misunderstood, or wish that you were more able to show up to others with more ease and confidence? Do you have good intentions, but in the moment get stuck in an old pattern of reaction or avoidance? Perhaps your life is at a crossroads that is requiring action and you need an honest, open and genuine witness to help guide you through this transition. Or, maybe you have been repeating the same behaviours and relational patterns for years, and are tired of getting the same results. During these moments, it is normal to feel a bit lost – even paralyzed! It's really hard to be on your own with all of this overwhelm.

My focus includes anxiety, depression, trauma, and perinatal mental health.
My clients are often people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward in their lives. Some are navigating anxiety, depression, or trauma, while others are adjusting to major life transitions such as becoming a parent, coping with fertility challenges, or healing from loss. Many of them long for relief, but more than that, they want to feel understood, regain a sense of control, and reconnect with themselves and their loved ones. Their goals often include finding healthier ways to cope, building resilience, and creating a more balanced and fulfilling life.

I see therapy as a journey of self awareness and liberation. As adults, we often assume we should have life figured out. Yet, we’re caught off guard when overwhelmed or lost. Truth is, life is complex, and few of us possess a manual for navigating it. Any combination of difficult life circumstances, unprocessed childhood hardships, not-yet-developed skills and unexamined values usually play a role in the underlying setup of our confusion and overwhelm. I help you tease out these contributing factors and grow your authentic self, so you can dream of a thriving life and take steps toward building it.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Counsellors

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
