Life can get heavy. Maybe you’re carrying something from your past that won’t let you rest, feeling disconnected from the people you love, or just running on empty and not quite sure how you got here. Whatever’s brought you to this moment — you don’t have to face it alone. Trix Harvey is a counsellor who genuinely cares about the people she works with. With 10 years of experience — including specialised work with refugee trauma — she brings both warmth and deep expertise to every session. Her areas of focus include anxiety, trauma recovery, and relationship issues, and she works with each person as a whole: mind, body, and spirit.

As a clinical psychologist working across public and private health settings, I've met people with a range of challenges — anxiety, stress, low mood, life transitions, or difficulties that feel hard to untangle alone. For many, this is their first time seeking support, unsure where to start; others haven't found the right fit elsewhere. What brings them in is a readiness to be heard, understood, and supported without judgement. I work collaboratively, tailoring evidence-based approaches to your pace, helping you make sense of what's underneath the surface, build on your strengths, and move forward towards your goals and values.

I work with individuals across the lifespan, supporting children and their families, youth and adults navigating a variety of concerns. I deeply believe everyone is deserving of a space where they can feel seen, heard and connected. I am interested in how people's backgrounds and histories, the environments and relationships we experience can shape who we are in the present moment, how we understand ourselves, and how we move through the world.

I’m Jess, and I’m here to create a space where you can just show up as you are, no performance required. As a psychologist, my goal isn't to "fix" you, but to collaborate with you. We’ll get curious about what’s happening in your world and help you get back in alignment with what actually matters to you. I bring a lot of heart, a good dose of humour, and zero judgment to our sessions. I believe therapy works best as an authentic human connection that leaves room for both the heavy stuff and the lighter moments. If you’re feeling a bit anxious about starting, don’t sweat it. We’ll just take it one step at a time.

You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or carrying the weight of past experiences that are difficult to make sense of. This could show up as anxiety, low mood, emotional reactivity, or a sense that something isn't quite right. Perhaps you've been coping for a long time but want more than just getting by. Many people I work with are seeking clarity, relief, and a greater sense of peace. They want to move forward without the past continuing to shape how they feel or function.

There's a particular kind of tired that comes from holding it all together on the outside while everything underneath feels like it's barely keeping up. With this can come anxiety, overwhelm, rage, and maybe even a sense of having lost yourself somewhere along the way. I work with women across Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire, in person and online, supporting them to create space for what's been asking to be felt, and find their way back to feeling lighter, more resourced, and more in control. Reach out for a free 20-minute consultation

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
