Hello! I am Dr. Julie Chicvara, PsyD, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Born and raised in the southwest suburbs, I have settled my own family in the same community and opened a private practice in the Orland/Mokena area. You can expect a warm welcome and a comfortable environment upon coming to my office. The first visit entails a structured interview where background information and presenting problems are noted. A weekly time will be agreed upon where we will meet to work on therapeutic goals and current stressors. Therapy sessions are less structured and are tailored to the individual.
I have worked with individuals from ages 3-92 and have treated a variety of presenting problems. My approach is tailored to each patient's needs, however I tend to combine cognitive-behavioral techniques while using a family/systems framework. I have more extensive training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Because I feel the therapeutic relationship is the main catalyst to success in therapy, I strive to form a relational bond with my patients. My office is accessible to people of all needs, and is located just off Wolf Road near 183rd Place. Evening and weekend office hours are available.
