MAT takes a whole-person approach to opioid addiction treatment, using both prescription medication and counseling to support patients as they pursue long-term recovery. Research supports the effectiveness of MAT, and respected organizations such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recommend MAT for the treatment of opioid addiction. At South Portland CTC, we offer methadone or Suboxone as part of each patient’s treatment plan.
