I work best with clients who are prepared to do the work that comes with true healing and self-growth. Our partnership will be collaborative, and it will be in your power to identify our goals for therapy, prioritize where we start, and to redirect the process if you feel something needs to change.

The right therapist will help you understand yourself better-who you are, how you think, your hidden fears and motivations-in order to identify and disrupt the patters in your life that may be holding you back. I am a licensed psychotherapist with extensive training in contemporary psychoanalytic theory and practice. In a safe, caring, and nonjudgmental environment, we will explore recent and past experiences that may be getting in your way and work together to overcome issues related to depression, anxiety, anger, post traumatic stress, stagnation in your career and personal life, and/or difficulty maintaining healthy relationships.

I am a licensed clinical social worker. I believe that there is no cookie cutter approach to psychotherapeutic work. My sessions tend to be direct. I am passionate about overall wellness; mind, body and spirit. I love esthetics and fitness and in fact hold licenses in both. I am also well versed in homeopathic practices where east meets west. I see clients for many issues, concerns and emotional disturbances and also have a niche practice around image wellness and dating coaching. I will help you break it all down so that you can improve the most important relationship, your relationship to yourself!

To quote my patients: "Isolation STINKS" "Remote work is EH", "When will I be able to date and see my friends" If these feelings resonate, I can help you work through them and come out stronger from the experience. Concurrent with my private practice, I worked as a clinical consultant for Right Management Associates, an outplacement firm. Subsequently, I was a partner at Harris, Rothenberg Int. (HRI), a global firm that provided psychological counseling to law firms and major organizations.

I specialize in helping women navigate the struggles of parenting, both in the transition to motherhood, and in the ongoing challenges of parenting and relationships. I help women build the support they need to take better care of themselves and their families. I integrate psychodynamic therapy with cognitive behavioral techniques (CBT) to treat perinatal anxiety and mood disorders, trauma and bereavement after pregnancy loss and help women navigating infertility. I also work with couples navigating the challenges of connection and intimacy, learning ways to better communicate and understand one another.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
