Therapy is not something done TO you, it is a process done WITH you. I will be right by your side every step of the way to a healthier you. We will move up and down the mountains of your life together. I look at therapy as a joint process, where the therapist and client work together towards the client’s goals. Everyone deserves a safe place to be heard. It is a big step to seek help for life's ups and downs. I'd be honored to help you!

I began my professional career with the Pavilion, an inpatient psychiatric hospital where I conducted individual, group, and family therapy.
Everyone needs therapy. Some of us just choose to distract ourselves with the day-to-day madness. The problem with this is that life will eventually slow you down and you are unable to use those distractions. This is typically when you may feel hit hard by anxiety, panic, and depression. We will start with coping skills and mindfulness but I am here for the long haul. I am a damn good therapist, and I want to help you truly heal.

A life where you can experience joy and peace again, communicate your wants and needs without feeling guilty or flipping your lid, and enjoy time with your family without fear of not being enough.
Are you ready to feel like yourself again? Maybe you're wanting to prioritize your mental health and wellbeing but aren’t quite sure where to start. Do you feel exhausted from taking care of others and neglecting your own needs. You are not alone... Life is filled with many transitions that don’t come with an instruction manual. When we are unprepared for life’s challenges, they can leave us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. Those feelings may affect our relationships, work, self-esteem, and ability to function day to day.

My typical client is one who is facing a recent problem and who is searching for how to use ones strengths to cope with problems and build resilience. This person tends to value family engagement and seeks encouragement from love ones. This one may feel overwhelmed with competing demands on time and resources and may feel that no one would understand. This person may misjudge social situations and may not feel like others are accepting of his/her differences.

I have experience in working with individuals that have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, family conflict, anger management, poor impulse control, substance use, grief, gender identity, and other life transitions.
Everyone experiences challenges in life differently. Sometimes it can feel like walking uphill (challenging, but doable) while other times it can feel like an impossible climb up a steep mountain. When faced alone it can be daunting and become a scary place. Trauma, anxiety, depression, or life struggles can take control of your thoughts and imprison you into thinking you're all alone. Taking a step forward to get help can be difficult, but very brave. I believe in working side by side with you to help you work through life's challenges to find your inner confidence and hidden voice.

Please do not hesitate to reach out for a free 20 minute consultation call to speak further about this next step for you, your child or family.
I provide guidance for my clients to heal from the impact of stressful or hard life circumstances by forming healthy connections with themselves and others. I chose the name of my counseling practice intentionally for this reason. Most aspen trees grow in large clonal colonies, sharing the same root system. I believe that we as humans were wired for connection like the aspen tree. Sometimes our internal or external connections can be stressed, broken, wounded, or vacant. Counseling offers us a place to create healing space so that we can find greater integration with ourselves and others.

If you are like most of us, your story hasn’t gone the way you thought. Each time you make a choice, it feels like you get more stuck. You feel stressed, overwhelmed, and tired of running in circles when you know there is something better out there. You want to get out of this place of feeling worthless, seeing your relationships suffer, and hurting emotionally, mentally, and even physically. You might see your teen experiencing these same things. It is time to take control of your story, instead of floating along and letting it happen. I can help you write the life you want to live as an individual, couple, and family.

I look forward to walking with you and your family as you move forward.
Life can be difficult to navigate and we all can use an empathetic ear and encouraging word, I hope to be that for my clients. Facing big life changes, anxiety, depression, loneliness, bullying, panic attacks, and other difficulties can be debilitating and even scary. It is my goal to listen to my clients and teach them the tools they need to navigate these difficult feelings. As a mom I know how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle with any issue they may face. It is my goal to walk through these difficult times with you and provide you and your child with the support you need.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
