Dr. Heather Ingram, originally from Chicago, obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University in Schaumburg, Illinois. Throughout her training, Dr. Ingram worked in a variety of settings around Chicago including Elgin Mental Health Center on the Unfit to Stand Trial Unit, Bridge View-Challenger Therapeutic Day School, Women In Need Growing Stronger domestic violence shelter, and Gateway Foundation residential substance abuse treatment center. During her work in Boston, Dr. Ingram worked at Walden Behavioral Care eating disorder clinic, where she worked in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care.

I believe in the power of therapy to help people escape the grip of the trauma: I work with survivors of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, abusive relationships, rape and sexual violence, terrorism, and political violence. I understand that making a commitment to yourself through psychological therapy is a significant and important step for many people.

Directive therapy is a guided processes in which the client learns how their experiences have shaped their emotions, behaviors, and thinking - determining the course of their destiny. In this process, the client will learn to transform their thinking to bring the change they long for. Unlike other forms of therapy, directive therapy allows the client to see the therapist at work, as the therapist updates the client from session to session on how their analysis is progressing, how their problem is structured, and how to effect meaningful change

I received both my B.A. in Psychology & M.A. in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M. I’ve worked in various settings such as private practice, outpatient & residential.

I am an LMFT with a specialty in trauma. Trauma has many layers and degrees, and I believe that trauma is completely subjective to the person experiencing it. I particularly enjoy working with first responders, high-conflict couples, and individuals dealing with past trauma. I am a Christian counselor; however, I recognize that everyone's faith journey is different, and I respect that. As an LMFT, I look at all issues from a systems perspective and add that to neuroscience knowledge to help normalize responses. The hope is to identify and change patterns for more effective relationships.
