Not accepting new clients
When we feel safe, we open up. My practice provides an inviting, confidential, nonjudgmental place for you to be yourself without fear of criticism or rejection. I draw from my training and experience to offer new perspectives, strategies and insight to empower my clients to manage what feels unmanageable. I walk alongside clients as they navigate the rough terrain of life including high-risk pregnancy, divorce and emptying the nest. Together we focus on the "what is" of their lives rather than all the "what ifs."

I see my role as being one who walks alongside you to help you navigate the twists and turns on the path of life. While working together I will be right here holding a lantern whenever we get to something that needs a little warm light shone on it. From a clinical perspective, my approach combines cognitive-behavioral, existential, solution-focused, and person-centered treatment modalities, all of which is to say, I treat the "whole person.

I believe that people have the greatest need to be heard, validated and to find a sense of purpose / belonging in life. One of the people who listened to me growing up, one I felt heard me the most was my childhood counselor. There were many things that I grabbed onto growing up to help me through any adversity I faced but that counselor helped me to see that there was something a lot greater in life than some of the experiences that I endured. This is all I can hope to provide to others when I counsel them. Just a sense of hope. Something that they can grab onto, carries them much further than the room we sit in together.

Adulting is hard. Being a kid is hard. Being human is hard. Having access to all of the world all of the time is hard. It’s overwhelming and everyone has an opinion. And sometimes it can just become too much. Every stage of life comes with what seems like insurmountable obstacles. This day and age with the seeming constant comparison to a perfect social media life can leave one feeling impossibly more than less than. Sometimes we just need a little help. A place to sit with our reality without the judgement or the press to have it all.

In my practice I focus on Freedom - The freedom to love and be loved authentically. In life we can be held back by obstacles we can't see as well as by obstacles we can see. I specialize in helping clients working to free themselves from those roadblocks. Successful clients have entered my office asking questions like: "No matter what I say, my spouse hears something different." "Why am I doing this, again?" "I've done everything I know, and not advancing at work," "Why won't these thoughts (fears) leave me alone?"

Addiction also known as the thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. It takes your money, kills dreams, and destroys relationships and you are tired of it. You want your life back by way of reuniting with loved ones, fulfilling your dreams and God-given purpose, and having enough money for shelter, food, clothing, and transportation. Substance use has taken me further than I wanted to go because I did not count the cost. Prayer upon request.

Why can't I stop drinking or using drugs? It is causing so many problems, yet I continue to use! I am obsessed with when I will get my next drink/drug and it seems that it has become about the most important part of my day!" If this sounds familiar, then you may be "normal." Many who drink or use drugs have crossed a line somewhere and lost the choice to quit. I work with clients who are desperately trying to quit but have had little success. I also work with the family members who have reached their own "bottom." I offer individual counseling, family meetings and/interventions. on line, by phone or in person.

How can I find a therapist in Princeton?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
