I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist and EMDR Certified. I work with parents who see their children or teens struggle with anxiety, depression, or have experienced trauma. My practice is focused on working with the entire family system. Many times parents seek services for their child. When they come to my office, we work on helping the parent be a partner in the healing process. My approach is different than other child therapist because I involve the parents in every step of the process and encourage them to be the parents that they want to be. Tamara is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator trained by Dr. Brené Brown and her team. Tamara studied marriage and family dynamics in her doctorate program. She is certified in the Gottman marriage counseling method I & II and utilizes Sue Johnson's theory of Emotionally Focused Therapy for repairing attachment in couples work. Tamara is trained in EMDR therapy I & II which is used for treating trauma.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in Texas. I received my Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have clinical experience in counseling children, adolescents, and adults with issues that include anxiety and depression, grief, behavioral issues, self-harm, multicultural issues, trauma, life transitions, domestic violence and abuse, and family/relationship conflicts.
