To say "things aren't always easy" is often an understatement. Sometimes things are more than hard, and may have been piling up for a while. Whether you're battling depression, anxiety, grief, or changes in life, I'm here to help. I've worked with children, teens and adults in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where they work to sort out their struggles. I have seen the damage trauma can do to relationships, but have also seen the power in connecting with others.

My passion is working with adults and teens who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, work/life balance, and life transitions.
Seeking help and finding the right therapist for you can be a daunting and challenging process. The key to positive, lasting change is finding a therapist who will tailor your treatment based on your individual needs and strengths, and help you overcome the behaviors and thoughts that are getting in your way. You need someone who will listen and understand you without judgment, support you through these changes, be honest with you, and challenge you when needed.

I have post-grad training in trauma recovery, anxiety issues, relationship struggles and, through my education and personal experience have developed a highly successful approach called Mindset Awareness & Narrative Integration.
We all desire to belong, feel loved, and to know purpose. We long to feel accepted and valued. But sometimes, the way we hold our experiences can lead us to hold onto fears and limiting beliefs about ourselves. Our inner self-talk can lead us to believe lies about ourselves and the world around us. This internal dysfunction can manifest itself in anxiety, depression, anger issues, addictions, and struggles in relationships and our work life. We have over 17 years of education, training, and a lifetime of our own struggles and victories. Let us journey alongside you towards a more fulfilling life of purpose, love, joy, and peace.

I have had the privilege of working with men on many issues including anxiety, anger, trauma, and marriage relationships.
Life can be more challenging than you expect, and sometimes you need help in moving forward. In those times, you need someone who understands you and can coach you in finding a healthy way to manage what life throws at you. A good therapist is like a fellow traveler who is able to help you make sense of life and relationships. In many life situations, a supportive counselor who understands how challenging life is can be a helpful part of your journey.

There is wisdom in seeking biblical guidance in order to sort through and resolve life's challenges. At times, we place our trust in others to meet our needs or in our own ability to control our circumstances, only to find them insufficient. Yet meaningful change is a work of God through Christ as we submit our lives to him. God has provided believers a Helper, the Holy Spirit, who empowers, comforts, and guides us through each step of the way. Ultimately, God is interested in changing our hearts, for out of the heart flows all the issues of life.

Nicely done - You should be proud of this step! It takes significant strength to start looking for a counselor. I applaud starting the process... but don't give up now! We all face challenges - stages of the path of life - mental, physical, spiritual, relational; all of it. It can significantly help to find an understanding and caring professional who brings their heart, soul, training and a team model... to walk alongside of us for a part of the path. My team and I would love to come alongside.

Sometimes life can become stressful and challenging. Occasionally, people make choices to try to correct their problems, when in turn, it can make their issues more difficult. Whether these issues stem from a unhealthy marriage/relationship, career/job unhappiness, family problems, or just feeling "stuck", there are answers. My job is to help clients learn more effective methods of dealing with these stressors, assist clients to see the pattern that has been created, and guide them in a different direction. I see clients from age 12-elderly. I take most insurance. Call for an appointment today at (903) 939-2287.

You do not have to go at it alone.

I am certified in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for trauma, depression, and anxiety.
Welcome! I’m so happy that you have taken this step to create change in your life. Due to negative experiences, many times we learn unhelpful behaviors and beliefs over time. I believe that healing takes place when you have someone to walk alongside to create space where you can safely deal with what concerns you without shame and without judgement. My goal is to create that space and to be that person who will walk with you as you confront what is no longer serving you and develop lasting change.

I have experience working with a wide variety of mental health issues with a specialty in trauma.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to dismiss the importance of mental health. It’s easy to think of all the reasons not to make yourself a priority. Trying to do all the things without investing in yourself, takes a toll on your body and your mind. If you find yourself tired, numb, irritable, anxious, lacking motivation, or burned out, therapy can be a great place to start. What if you tried investing in yourself for a change?

Life is too precious to let trauma control you and live with perpetual anxiety and depression.
Do you feel like you are failing at life? I bet sometimes life feels so hard that you have to force yourself out of bed to face the day. Do you sometimes find yourself having no energy to accomplish the days tasks and other times you feel so stressed and anxious you can't calm down? Other people see you looking calm and collected on the outside, but on the inside your mind is racing and you are constantly on edge. You deserve to live a life free from emotional pain, feel more in control, and focus on what matters.

I am an EMDR trained therapist and I specialize in trauma, addictions and dual diagnosis.
Seeking help for life’s struggles is not an easy task especially when it requires our emotional exposure. I believe it takes a very courageous person to seek help and be vulnerable. If this is you, I want to congratulate you! I consider it an honor and a big privilege to walk beside my clients who are facing hardships in life. I believe therapy can be extremely helpful when the client is approached with welcoming, comforting and the nonjudgmental heart of a therapist.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
