As both a clinician and self-identified individual in long-term non-abstinence-based recovery, I know what's it like to struggle with finding and maintaining recovery through traditional means. I believe that recovery is not a one-size-fits all model that can only be obtained through total abstinence or only working the 12 steps. Recovery can take on many different forms through a harm reduction approach, including, but not limited to medicated-assisted treatment, moderation management, as well as abstinence. If you are looking for your own pathway to recovery that feels true to you & your own desires, harm reduction may be for you.
