I am a Certified Trauma Treatment Specialist (CTTP) and I specialize in treating Complex and Simple PTSD, Dissociative Disorders (including DID), and the aftereffects of surviving relational trauma.
I help people who have survived painful life experiences to finally break free from the toxic residues of their pasts. My clients come to me locked within cycles of flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, addiction, regret, anger, and/or shame and also deal with chronic self-esteem problems. In some cases, they may even feel their identity has been shattered or they have a fragmented sense of who they now are. Clients leave treatment with me feeling empowered, resilient, healthy and whole. They have a new lease on life because what they have been through is reprocessed and becomes strengths and proof of how amazing they really are.

I facilitate understanding and transformation of intrapsychic complexes and interpersonal patterns with embodied and here-and-now interpersonal approaches that integrate attachment theory, developmental theory, neurobiology of trauma response and healing, and the power of self-awareness, self-compassion, and neuroplasticity.
Do you wonder, sometimes lying on the bed at the mid hour of night, that life could be different: maybe lighter, with a little bit more hope; and your pounding heart can slow down and feel some peace; when you look out, you can smile and sense trust? Is there part of you that want to embark on a journey of healing and growth, to build nourishing relationships with your own self, with others, and with the life at large, to lay the foundation for a life of meaning and joy?

I have had extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT) and trauma as well.
It is hard to reach out to someone to ask for help especially when you are having to deal with something so personal. Even if that step felt small, I just want to say you're worth it and great job on starting to consider and search for help. If you are dealing with a past trauma, anxiety, depression, sexuality, or spirituality then I would love to be able to help. I love working with individuals to help you overcome the challenges you are having and build a life worth living, whatever that is for you. I pride myself on creating a judgement free space with validation and helping you process and learn what you need to help you grow.

I have the deepest respect and admiration for people who have sustained significant loss and trauma yet have somehow managed to survive.
The vast majority people who seek therapy have, through no fault of their own, suffered loss and trauma which has caused painful consequences for their lives. The best way to heal from those losses is to first have them accurately identified and then to be gradually helped to express one's thoughts and feelings about them to a supportive listener. With such support one's experiences are validated as real and one begins to recognize one's strength and courage under the most challenging of circumstances. The opportunity to speak the truth about the painful facts of one's life to a supportive therapist is what heals.

Adversities can rob you of peace and affect your ability to stay on life’s course. The distress experienced in today’s world can be associated with toxic stress, cycles of trauma, depression, grief, fear or experiences of racial and social injustices. The way you respond to life’s difficulties matters. True healing occurs when you give yourself permission to explore and face frightening or limiting beliefs that may live beneath emotions causing discomfort and pain.

Please consider reaching out for us to begin talking about how trauma-focused therapy may be helpful for you.
I'm always honored to help adults and adolescents who are recovering and learning to thrive following acute and complex trauma. Traumatic stress reactions can take many forms including post-traumatic stress disorder ( PTSD), depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, substance misuse, and difficulties in relationships. Through a careful assessment and individualized formulation, trauma-focused psychotherapy can help to address them all. I particularly enjoy working with those who have experienced or lost loved-ones through community gun violence and veterans with combat trauma or challenges reintegrating into civilian life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
