I believe that it is often problematic when others, (including Therapists), try to tell Clients what they should Think, Feel and Do. This is especially true, if they don't even really know you. My goal is to NEVER do this to YOU! I will always strive to give you the right to be yourself and to make your own choices, when YOU are ready! I will do my best to understand you and what is most important to you. I will support you in your efforts to be the person that you want to be and to have the life you want to live! I have 43+ years of training and experience in doing psychotherapy. I have been a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Illinois since 1980. I have a Master's degree in Social Work with a clinical emphasis and graduated in 1978. I employ a cognitive-behavioral eclectic style, as well as a practical problem-solving approach, in working with clients.
I believe that no client should be judged harshly because they are having problems-no matter what kind of problems! I always encourage clients to accept themselves even if they don't like their behavior or traits. Getting help in counseling, from a trained therapist, is a normal process that can bring much relief and resolution to our large and small issues.
