I utilize a combination of strength-based perspectives and mindfulness-based approaches and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) when working with individuals, couples, and adolescents.
Do you feel like you are going through life transitions alone? Are you having a hard time adjusting to certain situations and don’t have the skills to get through it? No one should have to go through difficult times alone. Don’t be afraid to seek the help you need in a setting that is non-judgmental and safe. You won’t experience negativity or criticism here. You deserve to be heard and validated for how you feel and see the world.

I work from a strength-based perspective, making clients feel accepted, supported, and empowered throughout the psychotherapy process.
The pace, constant changes and stress of life can often feel like too much to manage alone. Through building a supportive and trusting relationship, we can work together to build on the skills and qualities you already have. My practice focuses primarily on working with adults of all gender identities dealing with a variety of issues, including difficult transitions, depression and anxiety, self-esteem, developmental trauma, and emotion regulation.

Everyone has life challenges. The best version of yourself can emerge with effective strategies to cope with distress. I provide hope for individuals and couples who are dealing with complex issues such as grief, relationship struggles, economic pressures, depression, spiritual/religious trauma caused by abuse, and many other stressors. My approach is trauma-informed—I see how past hurts affect the present.

Whether you're navigating complex relationships, managing stress and anxiety, or interested in making changes, I work with individuals who are invested in understanding themselves and progressing through the challenges they encounter, both internal and external. My natural approach to people is very humanistic. A central value of mine is being compassionate, non-judgmental and accepting towards others. I value genuineness, warmth and kindness when connecting with my clients. I believe in the critical role of the relationship between myself and the client, because in my opinion this is the primary mechanism of change. Only in the presence of a caring, safe and trustworthy relationship can we work together towards self-exploration, insight and change.

Being human is hard. You do the best you can to cope, but sometimes life’s challenges feel like too much. You think you should be able to “figure it out” on your own, but it is not working well. You talk to family or friends, but they don’t know how to help. Now you are beginning your search for a therapist. I know the prospect of therapy can be scary! Pursuing therapy is a sign of strength, courage, and hope. I believe when you find a therapist who is a good fit for you, and you feel heard and understood, you will find your way through uncertainty, fear, heartache, and pain and come closer to being more of the person you want to be

I take a very eclectic approach to my practice and like to adapt to each person. Everybody is an individual, and cookie cutter approaches just don’t always fit the bill! I like to channel each person’s strengths to help guide them through troubling times. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize CBT, solution-focused, trauma informed care. Coming into therapy can be hard, and I want to make sure you are getting what you need in order to heal, process, and grow!

My ideal client is someone who is a teen or adult and is struggling with a mood disorder, identity discovery, and relationship issues. Their needs lie in guidance on psychoeducation, building boundaries within themselves and with others, processing any trauma-related problems, and navigating relationships. Their goals would be to manage their mood disorder to where it is not interfering with life, confidence in themselves when setting boundaries and knowing who they are, and becoming more comfortable with discussing difficult thoughts and emotions.

Hi there! I’m excited that you’ve chosen to add therapy to part of your self-care. I was raised by my Korean immigrant grandmother and Black grandfather. This informs a lot of my therapeutic approach. I believe we have to approach healing through a holistic lens and view each person as a part of many systems including their family, community, culture, religion, society, and others. Intersectionality helps us understand that we are more than one “thing.” At all times we are carrying and accessing multiple parts of our identity that mix to form something beautifully complex– YOU!

I specialize in narcissistic abuse recovery. I offer in person and virtual Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Workshops. Are tired of the same toxic relationships? Are you are ready to heal from your trauma and not repeat the past? Maybe, you can no longer trust your intuition to determine who is good for you and who isn't? You feel like no matter what you do, you can't seem to get away from toxic relationships, friendships or experiencing yet another trauma. You are struggling to cope with the trauma caused by the relationship.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
