Do you ever have something you want to say but restrain yourself from doing so out of fear of others' reactions? The truth is what we tell ourselves others think can be a barrier when building an ideal lifestyle. A simple task such as a walk or puzzle quiets negative thoughts and allows you to open up to get the most out of your session. If you are experiencing decreased self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, or eating concerns feel free to reach out by phone or email!

Hi! I'm Darionne, and I know emotions can be a super weird but important part of the human existence. I really enjoy helping people navigate those big emotions as well as other life struggles. I'm here to walk alongside you during difficult moments in your life, and I always tailor my therapeutic approaches to whatever my clients interests are. So, if you hate writing, let's not journal! But, let's find something else that you enjoy and can be therapeutic for your healing. My clients always receive a treatment approach that's tailored to both their needs and preferences. I work hard to make this the best fit for you!

Do you feel overwhelmed with some of your life circumstances? Have you experienced trauma: a divorce, job-loss, traumatic birth, difficult diagnosis, or domestic violence? Are you depressed, struggling with low self-esteem, lacking motivation, or needing help transitioning through life? I believe that every individual has what it takes to succeed and live a fulfilling life. Sometimes, we have to go through the darkest storms to see the brightest rainbows. Without the right tools and a safe non-judgmental space, it may feel impossible to weather the storm on your own.

You deserve to live a life that you love. There are many people who see therapy as something intrusive, unnecessary, or believe they will be judged. As a therapist, I believe that the connection built between the patient and therapist is the foundation that can lead you to the life that you want to live. My goal is to help you achieve your goals and see you become happier with the life you are currently living. Yes, sometimes therapy can bring up painful emotions, memories or events, but this pain can lead to growth and a better life. Life is too short to let the traumas of the past keep you from the life you were meant to live!

I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is very important. It’s very important to me that I create strong relationships with my clients based on trust and acceptance. I take a holistic approach, as our mental health is as important as our physical health, and they are often related to one another. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy and a person-centered approach. I can assist people who have mood disorders, anxiety, grief, trauma, substance abuse, parenting and family conflicts and LGBTQ support. I encourage strength and endurance in finding joy in our lives and supporting understanding to move forward.

You know something is wrong, but you are not sure what it is, why it happened, or how to fix it. You think you probably need help, but it's hard to know where to start. You worry about being overmedicated or wasting your time. You want to figure out, once and for all, what is going on and how to take care of it. Does this sound familiar?

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
