Seeking out a therapist can be an intimidating venture, so I make it my priority within the first contacts to help the client feel relaxed and confident in my expertise to assist them while creating an environment of safety and trust where they can examine, experience and process their own thoughts, feelings, or anything that they deem important. As your therapist, I empathically listen while doing my best to answer any questions that may arise in therapy. This approach creates a forum where the client feels comfortable to share their struggles and helps them alleviate barriers and fosters an authentic therapeutic connection.

The 21st Century is fast paced and high tech. Today is very different from just a few years ago. We have been forced to modify our behaviors and expectations to accommodate technology. We are accessible 24/7 thanks to cell phones & blackberries. Though we juggle new demands none of the old stressors have disappeared. We still have jobs, families, friends & all the joys and responsibilities that accompany these relationships. It is easy to understand how our lives & resources can be stretched to the breaking point. Stop. Let's take the road less traveled. Truism # 1: Life can be joyful.

Having been on both sides of the couch, I can honestly say that getting started in therapy can be scary at first. My therapeutic style is simple: you bring the life experiences and expert knowledge about you to meet my clinical experience and expertise on mental health and the study of human behavior. Together, we sift through the confusion, identify "stuck points", and develop healthier patterns of thinking, behaving, and feeling in order to move forward throughout life in a more positive and effective way. I work to provide a safe space and unconditional positive regard for you while assisting you in reaching your ultimate goals!

Now Taking New Clients! How are you doing today? I know at times things can be hard, but I am here for you. Let me help you deal with life's struggles and issues, and work on healing, growing, or in reaching your full potential. Therapy is not a one-dimensional place where you go to only talk about your feelings, but a place where you can holistically work on yourself. Therapy should be a safe place for people to understand themselves, unburden, heal, and morph themselves- all on their own terms. No matter what diagnosis or problem I guarantee I will go on this journey with you.

Many creatives and artists experience sleep problems, which can have a negative impact on their work, their relationships, and their overall health. If you're not getting enough sleep, you may find it difficult to focus, to be creative, and to make decisions. You may also be more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems. The good news is that there are things you can do to improve your sleep. Therapy can be a helpful tool for addressing the underlying causes of sleep problems and for developing healthy sleep habits.

The negative thoughts and feelings are controlling my life. I am getting so lost in pain and self doubt and fear that I'm losing track of my real life, my hopes and dreams, my relationships, fun, rest, freedom to learn and grow...all the good stuff! There is a way out of this dead-end of suffering. My clients tell me that Energy Psychology looks like magic and feels like a miracle, but in reality, it's based in science. Every mental health issue known to humanity is caused by memories held in your cells as energy. The problem is an energy problem and it can only be resolved using an energy solution.

You are exhausted by the constant need your young children have, that it's resulting in your anxiety and depression to skyrocket. You never wanted to see yourself this way in parenting. You want to find more ways to enjoy the moments of joy and connection with your young children. You want to stop feeling triggered by the tantrums, the smelly diaper changes, and the house that looks like a tornado came through it. You wish your anxiety would stop keeping you up late at night or waking you up in the middle of the night. You want to start healing from your past childhood wounds that are creeping into the present.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that considers your life experiences, patterns, relationships, and beliefs that have shaped you and are currently influencing your ways of being in the world. You are the only one who has experienced your life; therefore, I encourage you to think of yourself as the expert. My goal is to empower and guide you in expanding healthy awareness, rather than give you advice.

How can I find a therapist in York County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
