As a relational therapist, I deeply value the client-therapist relationship.
As a therapist, I help individuals seeking to improve relationships with partners, family, friends, and often themselves. I apply a family systems approach to help individuals navigate through concerns such as divorce, grief and loss, and difficult family relationships. My practice also extends to those dealing with general stress, life transitions, body image, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I work with individuals (age 7+), couples, and families.

Does everyone depend on you to make decisions and solve their problems? Even when you are going through a rough time do your friends and family still ask you to do things for them because they are so used to you always being available? Is it easier to make what you want secondary? Does keeping the peace come at the expense of you not having a happy and fulfilling life? Do you lose your identity and not know who you are when you are in a relationship?

My passion is working with Couples experiencing communication difficulties, life/work discord, lack of intimacy concerns, differences in parenting styles, unhappiness in the relationship.
When starting my Private Practice years ago, I felt it was very important to create a therapeutic space where my Clients would feel comfortable, listened to and understood. A place where they could be themselves, speak openly and honestly and gain insight and perspective. My approach has always been genuine and straight forward, with a strong touch of honesty, encouragement and optimism. Relationships, family life and parenting can be so stressful and feel very overwhelming at times. I look forward to talking with you to determine how I can best help and support you and your family.

Starting therapy can be a scary thing. You have to talk with a stranger about your most private worries. But somehow, if we make a connection, the therapy space feels like a safe place to talk and feel and be curious about your anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma or whatever nudges you to seek extra support. To me, therapy is all about exploring your inner landscape, finding helpful ways to soothe yourself, developing self-compassion, untangling old stuff that still gets in the way, and becoming empowered to make healthy choices. As hard as we work, we can laugh together, too! Laughter is good medicine.

I am enthusiastic about helping clients that experience a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, family/ relationship issues, grief, and other concerns.
I have worked with individuals and families in a variety of treatment settings. My experience as a teacher, mentor, athletic coach, and Dean of Students has allowed me to distinguish the different developmental stages of children, particularly adolescent males. I have a dedicated interest in helping the youth to make constructive changes that allow them to reach goals that their confidence blocks them from obtaining. As a Practitioner working with families, I help clients make substantial changes that center around practical strategies and evidence-based practices that allow them to build strong, nourishing relationships.

Living has got to be one of the most exhausting things we do! You may be looking for some help in your romantic relationship, as a parent, with sex, or in your career. I work with individuals and couples to address challenges in relationships, sexuality, experiences of trauma, and general dissatisfaction with their status quo. In our work together, we will take a look at the things that are holding you back from living the life you want to be living. I might also tell dad jokes. I probably will tell dad jokes.

Additionally, one of the most powerful agents of change is our therapeutic relationship.
Welcome! It takes energy and courage to search for a therapist who is a good fit for you. Therapy can help you feel more connected, further develop your purpose, reduce your self-doubt, and develop more effective ways of coping. At times it can be helpful to develop insight and awareness into thought patterns, stuck emotions, or relational patterns from your past, so you can work through them toward acceptance *and* action toward change. Insight alone isn't always enough, so it's important for us to work toward helping you translate that insight into the change & growth you hope for. I strive to create a non-judgmental, safe space.

I specialize in the treatment of adults and young adults (college age) struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, sexual assault, and grief/loss issues.
I see the relationship between a client and therapist as a partnership. I work hard to create a safe and comfortable environment where clients can let down their guard and speak freely. I believe a warm and supportive environment is key to the success of any therapeutic relationship. I work towards this goal by using my sense of humor and down to earth personality to relate to clients.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
