Along with reflective and intuitive listening practices, I take a trauma-informed, psychodynamic approach when meeting with clients and utilize evidence-based practices such as CBT, Mindfulness-based, and Solution-focused therapy.
Welcome to a path of potential growth and healing! As a practicing LCSW, I hope to provide space and opportunities for my clients to engage in nonjudgmental awareness and skill-building while practicing empathy, compassion, and perspective-taking. Years spent in crisis intervention, with families in their homes, with youth in schools, and guiding psychedelic experiences have led me here to work with you. Whether your struggle surrounds a major life shift, generalized anxiety, mood disorders, eating disorders, trauma, chronic illness, or grief, I believe the power of a growth mindset puts us in a position where change is possible.

I work heavily from a psychodynamic perspective; (basically getting to the root of the problem); which often stem from family of origin problems or trauma.
Do you have low energy but you're not sure why? Do you live in a constant state of worry? Or perhaps you make goals for yourself but have difficulty reaching them. Maybe relationship issues? You want to solve these problems and to feel better, but it seems like nothing that you try works, at least not for long. I want to help. Together we will work to find what is blocking your success and find new strategies that work for you. You may be dealing with an undiagnosed mental health issue, or unrealized internal conflicts that need to be resolved. Uncovering these things take the help of a mental health professional.

I primarily utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy, but I have also received training in psychodynamic and family of origin therapies.
Research has shown that the primary factors involved in change in a therapeutic setting are the clients' internal strengths. The second most important factor is the relationship between the client and the therapist. At the very core, therapy is about a healing relationship. This is what a prospective client should ask regarding a therapist when entering therapy: is it a relationship that is conducive to your growth, whatever your goals?

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
