We keep this in mind as combine various research based methods such as play therapy, sand tray therapy, wilderness therapy and interactive feedback to create a personalized intentional experience that is engaging, fun, and healing. I'm also Christian and my office is housed on a church campus.

I create a safe, non-judgmental space for children 4-14 and their families through deep listening and observation, forming an authentic, trusting, compassionate relationship where understanding and healing can begin by processing difficult experiences, thoughts, or behaviors. I take a whole-brain, whole-body approach to customize a treatment plan for each client, building upon their strengths and unique gifts. Utilizing Play, Art, Nature and Book Therapy, as well as YogaCalm and Collaborative Problem Solving, my goal is to have a calm, grounded client that finds joy and can set goals to pursue their dreams.

Children and youth benefit from my practical, supportive approach. In cases where children and adolescents have been affected by abuse, trauma, and sexually reactive behaviors, I am able to meet them where they are, and support their healthy development. I am an empathetic partner and guide to their process of healing and growth.

Positive Inner Self's therapists have extensive history working with children, adolescents, teens, and adults working through difficult behaviors, parental relational issues, trauma and abuse, reunification, foster and adoption issues, anxiety, depression and trauma. In my approach, I work in partnership with teenagers and adolescents to help them reach the goals they have set for themselves. Often, this work includes healing from past negative experiences and traumas, support during developmental milestones and issues connected “stage of life” challenges. I have deep confidence in a person’s inherent knowledge of self, resilience and ability to heal and grow in order to be their whole self. I have experience working in the field of social work for over ten years, supporting individuals and communities in a variety of environments including the juvenile justice system, education and advocacy work, residential treatment, community-based work and non-profits. In my work I have developed a client-centered, strengths-based and trauma informed practice modality.

My personal approach to counseling is based on my belief of the inherent worth of every human being. I approach everyone I meet with a nonjudgemental mindset and unconditional positive regard. I believe deeply in the need for human beings to connect with one another. I believe that people are resilient, and the human spirit prevails over and over again. I have experience in working with complex trauma, grief, abuse, behavioral issues, family dynamics, and couples’ therapy.

A majority of my clients are seeking an experienced mental health therapist/relationship counselor in whom they place confidence that their most deeply-held spiritual values are understood and shared. I primarily treat Christian individuals, couples and families that are facing difficulties with anger and abuse, blended-family, sexual addiction, unfaithfulness, marital discord, or depression and anxiety, along with a variety of spiritual concerns.

There is tangible and real-life hope. Ingrid has worked with people for over fifteen years in the role of educator, mentor, and professional counselor. She has spent much time also working with crisis and trauma victims, those working through times of deep grieving and loss, individuals sorting through and understanding their identity, self- worth, and those managing every day with anxiety and depression.
