Effective psychotherapy includes building rapport, trust, and achieving awareness through a collaborative process where patient and therapist work together to achieve stated goals. It includes evidence-based methods, learning about the issue or disorder, applying solutions and developing skills and strategies to manage emotions and realize your incredible strength and ability to persevere in the face of adversity and find acceptance in loss/grief and life's uncertainties. Initially, therapy can be challenging, but it does become easier over time. To reduce your anxiety, I created a safe, professional, nonjudgmental environment.

My goal is to support children, adults, and families in helping them figure out how to sort through their trauma and build a more fulfilling life. The clients I see range from middle schoolers struggling with trauma to adults trying tp figure out their next step. Whatever the difficulty, we'll work as a team to create long-lasting change.

No one said life was going to be easy. We go through challenging situations in life when you feel like the weight of the world is trying to overtake you. There's nothing wrong with seeking out additional support and assistance when these difficult times occur. Self-awareness is the key element one needs to possess in knowing when help is needed. Deciding to receive therapy shows that you are taking personal responsibility for your own well-being and thusly creating and gaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and your values.

I provide therapy for a variety of issues that you may be facing. The most prominent of these issues are depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. This does not mean I do not provide counseling for other issues or that those “other” issues are not as important. Here are a few examples of those “other” issues I have experience with: grief counseling, social skills education, substance abuse, parenting, domestic violence education/counseling and therapy related to chronic medical issues. In my practice, I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). When appropriate, I use other treatment modalities as well.

Door of Hope Counseling Center is a private non-profit that offers hope and healing to those who are hurting as a result of trauma and grief, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, relational issues, parenting issues, or more severe mental health issues. A sliding fee scale is available for those without insurance. Individual, family, group and couples counseling is offered. Play therapy is available for children. Door of Hope serves clients between the ages of 5 to senior adults. I have 29 years experience in community mental health and residential mental health. As a registered Supervisor, I provide supervision for licensure.
