You know this sudden rush of emotions, when your heart is racing with memories of a time long gone but not forgotten. Maybe your palms are getting damp, and you feel your throat tightening - almost choking - as you remember painful memories of either childhood abuse, a painful breakup, or other shadows of the past – it's like being caught in a storm of past pain with a ton of emotions. Life is rough and now more than ever people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how they should manage their relationships, careers, and lives — however, you don’t have to walk through this on your own.

I’m committed to providing my full attention and support in helping people work toward positive changes that align with their own values and goals. I work with adults and adolescents, and I take an eclectic and holistic approach to help with concerns that may include mental health, stress, trauma, grief, addiction, relationships, or adjusting to life changes. This may be a matter of short-term counseling to strengthen coping skills or overcome a specific challenge, or more in-depth therapy to better understand and resolve deeper patterns and issues.

I care about creating a therapeutic space that is designed to help you find and embrace the fullest expression of YOU. I enjoy collaboratively working with adult clients that are interested in a compassionate, person-centered, LGBTQ+ affirming and trauma-informed approach to counseling. Without exception, all people want contentment and happiness, yet often it is elusive. Yet, there really is a roadmap to peace and harmony---and it can be taught! Conflict can be replaced with curiosity. Compassion can replace judgement. Open-heartedness can overcome disappointment. My strength is in being a guide for people who want to grow into the person they were meant to be. By attending to our minds our bodies and our spirits---in addition to having healthy relationships we can create vitality---whethere we're single or married. Teaching all people the exquisite art of connection is my passion.

I work with individuals and couples. While my specialization and license are in the area of couple therapy, I believe strongly that individual work is what leads to harmony in relationships. Childhood trauma is one of my important areas of focus in sessions, so as to help clients remove psychological blocks. My desire is to create a space where each person can reach for his/her highest growth potential. Couples often seek therapy when their relationship is on its last leg, hoping that I might have "the magic wand". It is when both partners are invested in self-growth that therapy works its magic to help create a stronger couple.

I focus on my clients struggles in the moment and let them know that working with me means being in a safe, non-judgmental space. I want to help those through the difficult times in their lives and help my clients become and grow to who they want to be. I welcome my clients with kindness, professionalism, and empathy. Hello! It's so nice to meet you! I know reaching out for help is not easy and I want to applaud your strength in beginning this journey. My practice is solely online! What does this mean for you? No commute, No parking, and no awkward waiting rooms. We meet via a secure HIPAA compliant connection either through video, audio, chat or direct messaging. I have been practicing in the online format for many years and see how revolutionary it is to counseling. Sometimes life gets messy and we get a little off track. It is in these moments that I find my greatest reward as a therapist by empowering others to find peace in the chaos.

My journey to becoming your therapist has come with colorful experiences. "Imagine your ideal client. What are their issues, their needs, their goals? What do they want and why?" was the prompt. My ideal client is one that is open to work towards working on their personal goals. Any of their issues, needs, or goals would be of upmost importance. Any issue, diagnoses, or goal will be handled in a fully non-judgmental, culturally competent manner. I began working with vulnerable populations in 2016. Despite receiving my license and master's degree later, I am coming upon eight years of experience in the field. Talk to you soon!

You’ve done research and more research. You know a lot about Autism, ADHD, and neurodivergence. You know that it can go undiagnosed while it wreaks havoc in your life. You feel like you're only functioning at half capacity, and you're struggling to know who you are. Everything is exhausting and feels like it is "too much." Maybe you are neurodivergent? Maybe there is a reason why life seems so much harder for you lately. Maybe there is hope. Hope that a diagnosis and proper support could help you cope, communicate, and come to terms with your neurodivergence. You’re ready for a change. It is time for your ENCORE.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
