I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

My ideal client is one that is open to change. A client that, even if they see no way through, they trust that I am there to do all I can to help them, not just to listen, watch the clock, and end a session, but to be invested in their transformation from start to finish. My ideal client is one who is comfortable, even if not at first, celebrating themselves and not being fearful about trying again. Things aren't always successful on our first try, but my ideal client will understand this, embrace the lesson in each situation, and be willing to use what they've learned to try again.

Hi! My name is Dr. Ed Callaghan. I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and am fully licensed in the state of New Jersey. I am the co-founder of the Integrative Therapy Institute of NJ and it’s Director of Child Services. I specialize in working with preschool and school-age children as well as adolescents and adults. I am especially proficient at working with children with ADHD, behavioral problems, and school-related difficulties--especially problems related to poor school performance, distractibility, and motivation/drive. I am also VERY SUCCESSFUL at bridging conflictual relationships between teens and their parents.

My ideal client is seeking therapy because they are feeling sad. It almost feels like depression. The client is not sure how to stop feeling this way. They also don't know why they are feeling this way. They want to learn what is making them feel sad. The client would like to learn strategies to help identify triggers and learn coping skills to decrease the depression.

My ideal client is a young adult aged between 18-30. Their issues and needs may look like learning how to control anxiety symptoms, increasing emotion regulation and distress tolerance while improving mindfulness. This client is motivated and willing to work with the therapist to learn how to change their life to meet their goals.

I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) specializing in the treatment of trauma and addictions. I have a few types of clients that I would like to work with. A youth client who is experiencing ADHD. A few goals may be to improve organization skills, grades, and on-task behavior. These goals may be important to the youth because they may need support with developing a daily schedule and organization skills to assist with focus. Another ideal client may be an adult who is looking to improve self-esteem to accomplish life goals. The adult may need support dealing with past traumas. This may be important to them because they want to improve for themselves.

My ideal client would be someone who is sick and tired of being sick and tired of struggling mentally. This person would have years of experience with close relationship failure and consistent loss, have seen or been a victim of domestic violence, been verbally or physically abused as a child, and or experienced poverty. They will have either ignored the signs or continued to survive because of fear of what others would think. The person will need to understand what they are experiencing is not their fault, and their goal is to break free of the cycle that has continued for so long.

It is hard to say what my ideal client is because I believe that I am capable of working with various types of people and that each person is unique. Even with a "challenging" client, I have learned a lot and found value in the work. With that being said, my ideal client has a history of trauma that has impacted their ability to connect with others and themselves. They are struggling with body image, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety about how others are perceiving them. They want to be empowered to advocate for themselves when necessary and create a wellness routine that serves as a preventative measure for mental health problems.

I am a Licensed Clincial Worker practicing for nearly 25 years. I am passionate about working with families and individuals to create more calm and balance in their lives. When individuals create a sense of calm within themselves; this can permeate outwards. Our goal together would be to sustain this sense of calm within your life. Creating this will help nurture more compassion with family, friends and in at your work place. My goal is to help my clients see both their strengths and weaknesses and to find a balance between the two. I provide an environment that is filled with warmth, empathy and acceptance.
